Robot girl hrt (pt. 1 or something)

  • One of the first notable change that is normal to notice is your UI appearing after the first few weeks. Man is it SO euphoric to wake up to a loading screen, I never thought I'd see the day...
  • After your lenses are actualized I remember swallowing becoming more automatic as the changes to your throat start. You'll notice your voice gets less organic over the course of the first year, singing is highly encouraged! The first time I heard the pitch correction in my voice while I was driving I had to pull over in excitement-
  • Growing up human you obviously won't have any guide to follow for organizational protocol, but robot-girls fear not! I was so lucky to be shown by a friend that file management isn't something to be feared, there's tons and tons of tutorials and guides online! I love seeing the community come together as our own sort of family raising newly formed CPUs ^^

are we ignoring both of the penises, or…..?

Pilots drawing things with flight paths is a niche interest but a fucking fantastic one. Boeing Dreamliner 18-hour test flight.

I’m just happy that the pilots out there have this kind of precision.

Oh I thought some pilot was doing this to some poor passengers who just wanted to go from Chicago to LA or something and then I scrolled up and saw it was test pilots.

“And if you look out the left window, you’ll see the same mountains again, but from a slightly different angle.”

What I love about this is that, I mean, it’s a fairly classic gag, right? A character putting themselves in the trash? But the way this is animated conveys a bit of how physically awkward it would be to actually do that in real life. The little wobble as she tries to balance on one foot, her guitar case getting caught on the lip, the way she doesn’t quite fit all the way in. They really wanted to get across that this isn’t just a visual metaphor, she actually stepped into a trash bin, diagetically, and it looked dumb as hell.

Right, considering the current state of corporate politics on this site, and that it seems that only those affected seem to be actively speaking on the matter, it is up to I, the only fucking cishet on tumblr, to drag this out to a wider audience.

REBLOG IF YOUR ACCOUNT IS A TRANSFEM SAFE SPACE.

We need to show these higher ups how much we truly value them.

including the weird weird trannies

is your blog a safe space for freaks, deviants, cringe failgirls, transfems you find personally annoying, transfems who are Loud and Opinionated, is it safe for all of us ?

i think i might be gender fluid, or maybe trans, and i dont really know where to start if anyone has tips or anything, i would really appreciate it :)

When I was questioning, I got really fixated on “if gender is an internal feeling, how do I know what my gender is?” And that wasn’t really useful! I think some people have a strong internal sense about their gender. If that’s you, I would recommend journaling or talking to a receptive friend. Some people don’t have a strong internal sense about their gender! If that’s you, then I recommend trying shit out and seeing what makes you happy. Here’s some stuff you can try:

- go to a fancy department store and get formalwear to try on in their big 3 panel mirror

- pick out different clothes from the thrift store and see what it feels like to have them in your closet

- change the underwear you wear, like switching to panties or to boxers

- experiment with your hair, get some cheap wigs, play with a hair visualizer

- look at the Snapchat or TikTok filter that exaggerates masculine/feminine features

- start roleplaying or join a ttrpg, choose different genders of characters

- ask supportive friends to use different pronouns for the night

Advice (generally for amab)

  • Try pencil-type eyeliner, it's by far the easiest make-up to apply and you get easy quick results
  • Don't be scared if you get burst of shame/dysphoria/psychic-damage when trying out stuff. I was terrified of "looking like a tranny", turns out I was shit at make-up, picked awful clothes, and had a lot of internalized transmisoginy.
  • Pierce your ears. Many options for all genders.
  • Don't try stereotypical clothes of the gender you're considering. Try clothes of people you appreciate/envy. It's dumb, but if you like punk girls, you're unlikely to like yourself in a summer dress. Just be a punk girl.

Oh yes!!! Cannot emphasize the last point enough. I didn’t want to look like the men I knew who wore polos and jeans, I wanted to look like a gay boy. It took ages for me to figure out that being effeminate felt good, because it’s not a typical model of masculinity.

"Holocaust" is a powerful word.

The word "holocaust" is derived from the ancient Greek word ὁλόκαυστος, referring to a form of sacrifice where the animal offered is fully burned (as opposed to θύεσθαι/thúesthai, where the edible parts are distributed as food and the rest is burned as an offering). It's an extremely specific term, one which fits the Gray Terminal situation well. That entire area was burned to the ground, to make the island more pleasing to the Celestial Dragons/World Nobles, who most people treat with religious fervor.

(Which is a neat worldbuilding detail, and not something we see much of in a series focused on ruffians and outcasts, but that's not the point of this post.)

Anyways, the word "Holocaust" has another meaning. It refers to a specific historical event, where Nazi Germany did its best to exterminate all European Jews. (Some also include the Nazis' efforts to exterminate other groups in the same death camps—Romani, Poles, disabled and queer people, Soviets, Jehovah's Witnesses, socialists, trade unionists, other political opponents—but that's not an argument I want to get into.) Wherever you draw the line between The Holocaust and other Nazi crimes, it was an act of genocide, and this is what most modern English-speakers will think of when they hear the word "holocaust".

Considering this context, is it appropriate to call the Goa aristocrats' incineration of Gray Terminal a "holocaust"? In my opinion, it isn't inappropriate.

The aristocrats clearly consider the residents of Gray Terminal (aka "Trash Mountain") to be inherently lesser. Trash, like the refuse out of which they build their lives.

From comments about "filthy Trash Mountain blood" and the like, it seems like the aristocrats think of Gray Terminal's residents as somehow inherently inferior, but One Piece doesn't go into much detail. (Almost like that's a minor detail for a flashback in a comic aimed at children as young as 9 or 12, depending on the source.) It's hard to call something ethnic cleansing if it isn't clear whether there are actually ethnic differences involved, you know?

But regardless of the details, the substance of the Gray Terminal fire is similar to the Holocaust. A group with power saw a marginalized group as inherently inferior, a danger to the purity of the in-group, and used this as a justification to exterminate them. The details are spotty enough that I can see someone else take issue with calling this a "holocaust," but the broad shape is accurate enough.

Good work, translator.
