Forests harbor most of Earth’s terrestrial biodiversity and play a critical role in the uptake of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. However, critical gaps remain in the scientific understanding of the structure and extent of global forests. In collaboration with World Resources Institute, we leveraged our DINOv2 AI training algorithm to develop a method to map forest canopy height at individual tree-scale resolution. With higher resolution forest data, we aim to unlock better monitoring of conservation and restoration efforts globally. This week, we shared an open source dataset of our work. Learn more and view the canopy height map here: https://lnkd.in/enFTjNt9
