Our dm gave the sorcerer a magic wand that can store 1 spell (spells up to lvl 4). And you can use this wand as an action, casting that spell WITHOUT using spell slots. You can also change spells during long rests. Now for the fun part. Our party is lvl 4. And it costs 450 gold (we got more for the quest we completed in one session). I think this is completely unnecessary and totally broken. I tried to argue with him about vanilla wands having charges, one specific spell and costing over 5000 gold, but he thinks it's fine. Am I going crazy or is he really going to bust his ass trying to balance our fights?
Edit: I was a little unclear in my writing, it needs to be clarified: the wand has no charges. You can use it every turn indefinitely.
2 Edit: Thank you all for your replies, I will try to talk some sense into my friend and suggest some restrictions. Or he'll try to do a couple battle scenes and realize his mistake. We only learn from our mistakes, I guess.
