I'm a cryptid in Stardew valley. I live on the outskirts of town. I disappear for days on end, purchasing daily one-way tickets to the calico desert. Nobody knows where I go while I'm there. Can occasionally be found fishing at random spots throughout town. I am never not running on at least one triple shot espresso. I take the abandoned minecarts to get around and am frequently seen disappearing into the sewers. I carry a sword for some reason. Once every week or two I will stride into your bedroom to deliver you your favorite meal. I'm a self-made millionaire. I attend all the town events and will go to your concert in the next town over. I have donated approximately 2583 items to the local museum and singlehandedly revitalized the town community center. There are rumors I can talk to junimos. I'm friends with the local wizard

my 8 year old has some emotional regulation difficulties, and I've done my best to help him with those.

unrelated, I gave him a shovel a couple of days ago and told him to go have fun in the field because I was tired.

He suddenly seemed happier, having less trouble breathing through disappointment and just being generally all around more cheerful and able to focus in school better. Sure, my partner had to pull him out of a six foot by three foot hole today, but he was stoked about it!

Marked places in the yard where I needed holes and he happily dug them and helped me plant trees, then helped me turn the compost pile and dig the garden beds. He is happy, my back isn't killing me, and we have discussed erosion and soil quality with the gravitas of an 8 year old discovering something they enjoy

Congrats on your future landscaper. Make sure he catches you reading books that will take him up a good path to a rewarding career.

Or gravedigger. Boy might just be in it for the holes.

It's not an "abandoned" WIP, I didn't intentionally leave it in the forest to die and forget about it, it is a lost wip who wandered into the forest despite my pleas not to. I sit at the edge of the forest every day and hear it calling for help but there is nothing I can do. It is a haunting wip

"we need less sanitized queer stories" yall keep saying fucking she-ra romanticizes abuse. you couldnt possibly handle less sanitized queer stories

"we need less sanitized queer stories" youre the one saying the locked tomb series is bad because you dont like the prose. based off of a quote from goodreads of all places. that was dialogue, not even the actual prose.

people keep reblogging only the first half of the post when the addition was the original post. ok

girl help. 4k notes

"she-ra fumbled its message" no! crucially, it didnt! it had the same message as the original she-ra show, which is "this lady is a superhero and is going to do superhero things like save the planet" and she did do that!

"oh but catra never apologized for what she did and they just let her join the good guys" thats a perfectly normal thing in childrens media, and the only reason yallre calling it out is because its queer and you want the perfect unproblematic queer media to exist. except that even if it did you would all find ways to nitpick it, which is the whole point of this post!

Also, notably, she did apologize. They just think it wasn't good enough.

They absolutely could not handle more nuanced media.

can we please pretty pleasr reblog this version,

people are missing the point again

"i didnt like gideon the ninth, as a book" ok? nobodys forcing you to read it??? the point is that people are far more likely to judge queer books (gideon the ninth is undeniably a queer book) without reading them than they are to do so to a non-queer book

also stop pontificating about "the q slur" or whatever, i literally couldnt care less. get blocked

the Columbia University arrests are worse than they seem. They're arresting protesting students for trespassing. It goes without saying students cannot meaningfully "trespass" in the common areas of a university they attend. So Columbia University has suspended all student protestors from their institution, in the process revoking their access to housing, their belonging, and most crucially damaging their academic futures. We are witnessing full scale silencing and removal of anyone of conscience from the next generation of academia.

beyond that the columbia common is literally an open space during the day; the gates are open and it's possible to pass through it like you'd pass through a regular block. even after my student ID expired i was still able to walk through the commons bc ID is not requested until you enter an actual building. it's quite common to see parents, toddlers, and such who are clearly not enrolled just hanging out. so not only were the students not trespassing at a SCHOOL THEY PAY FOR, there was also not a precedent for non-students to be disallowed from the grass and walkways.

btw this is not a one off. Cops did this during George Floyd. They bank on the media hysteria about protests and hope their arrests will be brushed off as necessary. That onlookers will either hate the protest as a whole or simply assume the cops are “only arresting the bad protestors”.

What allows these assumptions to flourish is the fairy tale that peaceful protestors and benevolent ruling class members can join hands and fix things. The reality is the ruling class will happily ignore laws and mow down protestors to maintain their preferred status quo, especially on something as deeply embedded in their interests as the USA/Israel alliance. They know it’s preferable to have a law that is a recorded excuse for them neutralizing somebody, but they’ll do it without any actual legal justification when they really want to. And bank on burying it.

One has to unlearn hand wringing about “good and bad protestors” and realize these people are fighting for our fucking lives and the cops are fighting against them. If the ruling class is operating such that their side is never wrong (which, demonstrably, they obviously are), what do you think we need to do in response?

If the prey can't retain any sort of awareness/consciousness after melting, then I adore the concept of them having inexplicable snatches of memory from their time being a part of their predator after they're reformed.

Bringing up little snippets of information that they should logically have no knowledge of.

Such as knowing their predator prefers to sleep on their stomach, and snores, and likes using a weighted blanket.

Despite never having seen them sleep.

Knowing their predator did laundry the day after they were claimed.

Based on the recalled memory snippet of being pressed against a rumbling dryer.

Little things that makes the predator really question just how 'gone' their prey friend really is when they're churned up.

So I sent the little fairy thing, the human protecting his little fairy friend from the sounds of thunder, and I meant for it to be a prompt but didn’t know how to write it out.

Storms weren’t a comfort to everyone, and he was learning this the hard way.

A particularly nasty storm was blowing through today, prompting him to turn off all the lights and light a candle in his room to lower the chances of a blackout occurring. He was more than content to sit in bed and gaze out the window, letting the thunder rumble through his core and watching the rainfall...but it was better spent with a friend. He hasn’t seen his roommate since it started...where was she? A quick look around his bedroom gave him his answer.

A gentle glow coming from within a large dollhouse on his dresser gave his fairy friend away, and he frowned. She usually didn’t hang out inside the home he got for her unless she was going to sleep...was something wrong? He got up and walked over, gently opening it up so he wouldn’t spook her. A fairy sat huddled up in the master bedroom of the dollhouse, visibly trembling as the storm raged on. “Hey...what’s the matter?” His tone is gentle and laced with worry, and she flinches a bit before looking up at him. “I-it’s the storm...I hate loud sounds like this, they always freak me out...” A particularly loud boom causes her to make a frightened peep, and she draws her wings around herself to make herself smaller. He frowns, offering her his hand in case she wanted to be held. “Is there anything I can do to make this better for you? I don’t want you to stay like this...” After a moment she crawls onto his hand, still shaking a bit. “C-could you keep me close? I don’t want to be alone...” He hums in response, cuddling the fairy close to his chest as he goes to sit down. Keep her close...that’ll only do so much, she can still hear the storm. After pondering it for a minute, he gets an idea and looks down at the fairy cuddled up against his chest. “Hey, I think I have a better idea...why don’t you come inside for a bit? You won’t be able to hear the storm from in there. You’ll be as close to me as physically possible.” She looks up at him, gauging her options. It wasn’t like she was new to being eaten, but she didn’t want to impose...another clap of thunder makes her jolt, and she hastily nods. “I-if you’re sure, then yes please!”

He doesn’t waste any time in lifting the fairy up to his lips, he never liked seeing someone usually so full of cheer this rattled. He opens his mouth up wide, giving her the option to crawl right inside on her own terms. She took it, moving inside a bit quickly and filling his mouth with a blue glow. Using his hand to usher the rest of her inside, he closes his mouth and tilts his head back. He’d usually take his time with this but he needed to hurry, and he hastily starts to gulp her down. With her small size she’s easily pulled into his throat, already relaxing as the sound of rainfall is drowned out by the sound of his approaching heartbeat. It comes and goes, and he lets out a sigh as he feels her plop down in his stomach. He pats around it, trying to feel for her so he can give her a gentle rub. “How is it in there? Is that better?” The fairy responds by pushing gently on the walls, which gurgle happily at her touch. The sounds of his body at work drown out the storm, prompting her to finally relax. “Yes, I’m fine...thank you, really.” He reclines back in bed, satisfied and happy that she’s already feeling better. Giving his belly a light rub, he closes his eyes and relaxes as the storm outside carries on. He’ll spit her back up later once it’s over, but for now he’s happy to hold onto her.
