Not Like Us Hits #1 on Billboard

It's official, Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar is #1 on Billboard this week. Billboard will release the full chart tomorrow, but Not Like Us is #1, Euphoria #3, Like That #6, and Family Matters #7. I remember seeing some comments debating if it could enter this weeks top 10, so #1 is crazy, but honestly not a surprise with how its been doing on streaming. And it looks like Not Like Us will actually have staying power, unlike Hiss which hit #1 from the Meg and Nicki beef and then kindve fell off after that. Also, that's two #1's for Kendrick in the span of one month. Song of the summer potential?

EU accuses Eurovision bosses of handing gift to ‘enemies of Europe’ with flag ban

It is time for a new controversy. The European Commission doesn't like that the EBU banned European flags from the venue.

https://www.politico.eu/article/ebu-accused-of-handing-gift-to-enemies-of-europe-by-banning-union-flags-in-eurovision-final/

The European Broadcasting Union’s decision to ban EU flags during Saturday’s Eurovision final was a gift to “the enemies of Europe,” Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas said.

Schinas said he would raise the matter with EBU management on Monday. “I will talk to them. I won’t let this pass,” he said. “I will seek explanations and clarifications.”

Schinas told Playbook: “I cannot find the logical explanation for why the EBU is doing this. And what does this serve?”

“Less than a month from the European elections, who wins from banning the EU flag from Eurovision?” the commissioner added. “Only the Euroskeptics and the enemies of Europe.”

Must be fun at EBU HQ today, they thought the controversies were over.

There were a lot of negatives around this year's Eurovision, but one thing's for sure...

Sad about Croatia's response

So, as a Croatian, I am really sad to see the reaction of majority of people on Switzerlands victory. Two main Croatian subreddits are flooded with homophobic/transphobic/everything-non-hetero-phobic comments to the level that is extremely scary and worrying.

Instead of sharing happiness and joy about the second place and the amount of support we got through votes, the "average Croatian" is now pissed off because there isn't number 1 but number 2 next to our country's name. The level of hatred that is being spread on anything related to LGBT+ topics is honestly scary and disgusting and I feel ashamed.

Also, very interesting, up until now, following Eurovision was generally labeled as something very "gay", but now when there was a chance to win, it suddenly became acceptable. Now that we didn't take the first place, it's gay, dirty and ew again.

In the end, if people really have this attitude, it's even better that we didn't win because imagine the "warmth" of welcome all the visiting queer people would receive..

Honestly I am heartbroken to see that love in Croatia comes with a long list of rules and regulations, and sadly, being queer is on that list.

SVT states that according to swedish police the investigation has been concluded and that the case will be handed over to a prosecutor at the start of June. This is faster than normal and is stated to mainly be a result of good evidence and the fact that it is not a more severe crime. Police also state that they expect charges to filed.
