Fuck that place amirite?

My favorite lines:

I recently tried to take the BRC course to get a motorcycle endorsement on my license, but I can be a bit slow sometimes and the classroom setting was just not helpful. Once I get the hang of stuff, I pick it up really easily but I can be pretty braindead with getting basics down and stuff (I have high functioning autism which is also indicated on my license). During the course, it felt like with every exercise, as soon as something would almost start to sink in, we would move on to the next thing. I didn't feel confident about passing the course, and frankly, given my (lack of) progress, didn't feel it would have been safe if I somehow did pass. Ultimately, I decided not to even complete the entire weekend course as I didn't feel going further on in the class would benefit myself or others in the course.

Instead, I decided it would be better to take the small bits of information I'd gained from the course, get a permit, and try to reach out to local riders who might be willing to help me get started. Once I've actually gotten a feel for what I need to do, I'd like to go back and try the BRC course a second time probably to get the actual endorsement. In the meantime, I've just signed on a bike and gotten it insured, and am wondering if anyone here can or can connect me with local riders for this sort of thing? I'm a student at ISU and live in the campus area.

As a side note, the autism thing means I can be a bit awkward or quiet, especially when I don't know people very well, and that I usually wear earplugs and such. It doesn't impair my driving at all, and I don't expect (or want) anyone I get the chance to ride with to "babysit" me or anything like that because of it. I might ask some really stupid questions every once in a while, but I'm independent and live on my own.
