- For Meet Legacy Calls (previously known as Duo): Make video or voice calls with Google Meet.
- For meetings: Start or schedule a Google Meet video meeting.
On your mobile phone, to make cloud-encrypted 1:1 video calls, ring their Workspace account directly. Learn about call and meeting encryption in Meet.
By default, users can only receive calls from contacts and other users in their organization. Admins can use the admin control to also allow users outside your domain to initiate 1:1 video calls with your users and vice versa.
Important: The admin setting only affects Google Meet calling. This setting doesn’t affect:
- Legacy services (previously known as Duo)
- Calling in Google Chat
- Ability to join meetings
Before you begin:
Important: Your admin controls your access to Meet calls. For more info, go to Turn off Meet meetings for your organization.
- Download the Meet app .
- Select signed-in Business or Education account.
Call someone in Google Meet
- On your mobile device, open the Meet app .
- Sign in to your Business or Education account.
- Tap New or Search contacts.
- Search for and select a coworker’s name.
- If a message “This contact can’t receive calls. Share a Meet link instead.” shows, you can tap Create and share a link.
- You can copy the link or tap Share, then choose a way to send it.
- This occurs if someone hasn’t opened their Meet app to receive the update.
- If a message “This is a legacy call” shows, that means you're in an organization that allows Meet (legacy) calling, both you and that contact are signed up for Meet (legacy) calling, but the person you're calling hasn’t updated their Meet app yet.
- If a message “This contact can’t receive calls. Share a Meet link instead.” shows, you can tap Create and share a link.
- Tap Call.
Tips:
From the Green Room before you join a call, you can:
- Mute or unmute your audio.
- Turn on or off your video.
- Add special effects, backgrounds, or filters.
To find a contact’s information or view your history with a contact:
- Tap the contact’s name.
- At the top right, tap the 3 dots View details.
Block or report someone
Important: You can "Block" or "Report abuse and block," but you don’t have to report as spam or select an abuse type.
- On your Android device, open the Google Meet app .
- On the search bar, enter the user’s name you want to block.
- Tap the person’s name.
- At the top right, tap Contact Options View details.
- Select an option:
- Tap Block contact.
- If applicable, tap the box next to "Report as spam."
- Tap Block.
- Tap Block contact.
Unblock someone
- On your Android device, open the Google Meet app .
- At the top left, tap Open navigation menu.
- Tap Settings General Blocked users.
- Tip: For iOS, Tap Settings Account Blocked users.
- Tap the X next to the account or phone number you want to unblock.
