Premier Steven Miles’ inquiry into supermarket price gouging continues in Brisbane today, but the bosses of Coles and Woolworths will not be in town to answer questions.
Former Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci has stepped down, not long after clashing with senators at the federal inquiry into supermarket prices in April. His successor, newly appointed CEO Amanda Bardwell, will not be in Brisbane to give evidence today.
Coles Group managing director and CEO Leah Weckert will also be absent.
The supermarket giants have instead elected to send senior staff to face questioning.
Coles’ government and industry relations manager, Vittoria Bon, and head of public affairs, Adam Fitzgibbons, will be attending.
For Woolworths, chief commercial officer Paul Harker and Queensland director of operations Danny Baldwin will attend.
