Coalition warns Labor over RBA board ‘sack and stack’

Shadow treasurer Angus Taylor has accused his counterpart Jim Chalmers of working to “stack” the Reserve Bank of Australia’s specialist interest rate-setting board even before it has been created.

The implication of Mr Taylor’s concern is Labor would seek to appoint board members who would be inclined to lower interest rates ahead of the federal election, putting at risk the push to curb high inflation.
