These kids are doomed.

Me(22m) visited my cousin(10m) and family today and what I saw was painful. I saw my cousin on a giant iPad and his iPhone at the exact same time playing bloxfruits while scrolling through YouTube shorts. Anytime his game paused or stopped to load, he would scroll to a new short. He was also on a call with his friends doing the exact same thing, while saying the most painful cringey YouTube shorts talk. If you didn’t know what bloxfruits is, it’s a Roblox game which is INSANELY grindy game with tons of micro transactions. 99% of the player base are kids 10-12. It was actually painful watching my cousin like this with his friends spending all his hours like this. He’s a brat and all this online stuff has turned him into one. He doesn’t care about anyone, only his phone and iPad.

My dad once told me "You must be allergic to thinking" after I touched a hot pan which he told me not to touch.

When they call your name and you respond with "What?" Then they go completely silent even if you keep on repeating it.

Do y’all miss real journalism?

When I was a little kid I’d wake up to my dad in the kitchen smoking Marlboro lights with a coffee, reading the newspaper. As soon as I could read I’d join him, starting with the lighter stuff, the calendar section, with the comics. As I grew up I always liked to start my day, or at least make part of my day getting informed on the world around me. The rise of the internet destroyed paper media and with it, actual in-depth journalism. As I scroll my way through the Reddit news page, I long for the time when articles were written by those that wanted to know and expose various parts of the human condition all around the world. Now it’s just click bait and typo ridden drivel that has no actual depth. It can’t just be me, can it? Even the last 5 years I’ve noticed a precipitous drop in the quality of the dreck that passes for news.

My friend said you shouldn’t do it because then you could “be caught lacking”, but in what way? I mean, if you gotta go, you gotta go, right?

Help me Fellow GenX’ers. You’re my only hope.

The aurora borealis being seen so far south has put me in a contemplative mood. Its got me thinking of all the stuff I havent seen that younger me would have assumed I would see by now; aurora borealis being one.

My longstriding friends (longstriding in the sense that we walked, rode our bikes, or took the bus everywhere, no matter how far) I am coming to you for advice. I am not getting any younger. I dont want to waste my time on Mt Rushmore (younger me bucket list item) when I havent seen Valley of the Gods or Lake Tahoe.

Please tell me, what is ONE place (park, city, museum, piece of art, anything) hat you are grateful that you have been to.

I will go first. Northern California. I cant afford to live there, but it is absolutely beautiful. San Fransisco, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel were wonderful. The weather was fantastic. Santa Cruz had a retro arcade on the boardwalk. I paid $5 and played all the Track & Field and Defender I could take. It was lovely.

Please, no hating on peoples choices. Be excellent to each other.

  • Millenials - the generation growing up near 2000 and grown up no later than 2020. If you can't remember bittorrent, wikileaks, George W.
