Price-slashed Peugeot e-2008 electric car sold out in nine days
The $25,000 discount on the Peugeot e-2008 EV has been exhausted in nine days – or three days after the offer received media attention – but there is an updated model on the way.
Stock of the 2024 Peugeot e-2008 electric SUV has sold out three days after a $25,000 discount on the drive-away price received media attention.
The hefty discount on the e-2008 – slashed to $39,990 drive-away, from approximately $65,000 drive-away, to clear stock ahead of an updated model – was rolled out on 1 May, and reported widely by media including Drive on Monday 6 May.
Peugeot Australia has advised all remaining stock of the current e-2008 sold out yesterday, Thursday 9 May, and the offer has been updated with 'sold out' text on the company's website.
A spokesperson for Peugeot's local importer would not say how many e-2008s were sold at the heavily-discounted price, but told Drive there was "very strong demand".
It means there is expected to be a gap in availability for Peugeot's first electric passenger vehicle until the facelifted e-2008 arrives in the first quarter of 2025 (January to March), the French car maker has announced today.
This follows an announcement earlier this year by Peugeot Australia suggesting it would be a model year 2024 vehicle – and reports have previously suggested a launch later this year – but a spokesperson has now advised it will instead be a model year 2025 offering.
In Europe, the refreshed version introduces updated styling, improved interior technology, and a more powerful 115kW electric motor fed by a slightly-larger 54kWh battery (up from 50kWh) to boost the WLTP-rated driving range from 345km to 406km.
Prices are yet to be confirmed, and it remains to be seen if it returns to the original $59,990 plus on-road costs RRP of the original e-2008.
Peugeot is offering drive-away deals on other models in its range until the end of this month.
It is offering the 3008 Allure mid-size SUV for $48,990 drive-away – about $6000 cheaper than its regular price, which varied between states – plus the 3008 GT Sport for $54,990 drive-away (down $13,000) and 3008 GT Sport Plug-in Hybrid for $69,990 drive-away (down about $20,000).
The Expert Pro short-wheelbase automatic van is priced from $48,990 drive-away, a saving of about $4000.
