Lex Greensill alleges his UK pursuers were protecting David Cameron
London | Fallen Australian financier Lex Greensill has accused Britain’s Insolvency Service of a politically motivated media leak about its probe into him, alleging it was part of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s effort to take heat off his new foreign secretary David Cameron.
The allegations, made in a court filing, could revive pressure on the resurrected Mr Cameron over his post-premiership stint as a lobbyist for Mr Greensill. The former PM was not found to have broken any rules, but the vigour and informality of his lobbying caused a Westminster furore.
