What is the stupidest movie from a science stand point that tries to be science-smart?

Basically, movies that try to be about scientific themes, but get so much science wrong it's utterly moronic in execution?

Disaster movies are the classic paradigm of this. They know their audience doesn't actually know a damn thing about plate tectonics or solar flares or whatever, and so they are free to completely ignore physical laws to create whatever disaster they want, while making it seem like real science, usually with hip nerdy types using big words, and a general or politician going "English please".

It's even better when it's not on purpose and it's clear that the filmmakers thought they they were educated and tried to implement real science and botch it completely. Angels and Demons with the Antimatter plot fits this well.

Examples?

Warner Bros. copyright struck a 15 year old “The Hunt for Gollum” fan film with 13M views less than a day after announcing a film with the same title. References to stealing ideas and corporate greed.

Formula 1 (I haven't got a clue when it's coming out) reportedly had a budget of $300 Million, this is a reference to the fact either Brad Pitt is one expensive mother fucker or they're going to green screen this entire film. Either way, there is no good reason for this film to cost that much

What was a moment in a movie that had you laughing because it was so absurd?

false

For me it was The Happening, very B movie and just plain terrible. But the part that stuck out to me was right towards the beginning where everyone started jumping off of buildings, crashing their cars etc. The main thing that made me laugh was the guns spread all over the ground at people's disposal to use.

Uhm... where did those even come from? Can the plants make stuff just... Appear? That was so stupid and I can't believe somebody thought "wow that sounds like it'd be a good idea to just have guns pop up so people can use them 👍🏻" lol

Edit: apparently it was the same gun, but the editing was too confusing for me to realize that haha
