Bank of England boss ‘optimistic’ interest rate cuts are coming

London | The Bank of England has paused on the interest-rate trigger, leaving its benchmark rate unchanged at 5.25 per cent and keeping a watchful eye on the ripples emanating from the US economy.
Only two of the nine members of the BoE’s monetary policy committee (MPC), which met this week, voted to start cutting interest rates immediately.
