Daniel Besen’s mansion gets craned
Myriam RobinRear Window editorYou might buy a $20 million trophy home with all the bells, whistles and high-tech security systems you can hope for. But who says someone won’t, one day, drop a crane on it.
Just south of the Melbourne Botanic Gardens in leafy South Yarra, the roof of billionaire investor Daniel Besen’s home is presently encased in tarpaulin after a crane tipped over and onto the roofs of the two adjacent properties over the road (the other being a small apartment complex, where the chimney collapsed).
After publication, we were informed the crane, which had been moving a tree, had in fact deposited the tree before tipping over. The piece has been amended.
