How to use Google Drive

You can store your files securely and open or edit them from any device using Google Drive.

Get started with Google Drive

You get 15 GB of space in your Drive at no charge. Learn what takes up space in Google Drive and where to get more space.

Step 1: Download and open the app

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Drive app. On the Home page, you’ll find:

  • Files and folders you upload or sync.
  • Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms you create.

Step 2: Upload or create files

You can upload files from your iPhone or iPad, or create files in Google Drive.

Step 3: Share and organize files

You can share files or folders, so other people can access, edit, or comment on them.

To find files that other people have shared with you, go to the "Shared with me" section.

Sign out of Google Drive

To sign out of the Drive app, do one of the following actions: 

  • Remove your entire account from your phone or tablet.
  • Remove your Google Account from your device.
  • Sign in with another account.
  • Turn off accounts temporarily.
Remove your Google Account from your device

Important: When you remove the account from your phone or tablet, it won't delete the account itself. You can still use the account on a computer or other devices.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Drive app Drive.
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture.
  3. Tap Manage accounts on this device and then Remove from this device.

Tip: When you remove an account, it removes the account from all apps on the device. This option is good if you want to remove personal information from your device before you give it to someone else.
Sign in with another account

Important: 

  • If you add multiple accounts to the Drive app, you can switch between them. 
  • Files on the Drive app stay separate for each account.
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Drive app Drive.
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture.
  3. Select the account you want to use.
Turn off accounts temporarily

If you add multiple accounts to the Drive app, you can temporarily turn off one or more of them.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Drive app Drive.
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture.
  3. Tap Manage accounts on this device
  4. Next to the account you want to temporarily turn off, tap Off  or On .
