One talks about a wild goose chase, the other's a red herring. I feel like we're getting messed with.

7a few hours ago, Jason RItter joined our Gravity Falls ARG discord server, here's the full timeline of events.

(Disclaimer: While Jason wrote in the chat a couple of times, it doesn't seem like he posted anything relevant to the ARG.)

EDIT: edited the discord username to 'Jace'

0:42 am: 'Jace' joins the discord server.

0:42 am: Jason Ritter likes a Twitter reply with the discord link.

0:43 am: messages of Jace

(at this point, no one even considered that this was actually Jason)

People in the discord realize that Jason liked the discord invite link (see: 0:42) and get suspicious of Jace

0:52: new messages by Jace

0:58 am: Jace posts a selfie and immediatly deletes it. Someone was able to screenshot it

People are still suspicious at this point.

1 am: Jace posts another selfie and deletes it immediately again

At this point, people are pretty sure that the guy on the pictures is Jason but not 100% sure yet.

1:04 am: another Jace message

1:06 am: people are calling for Jason to tweet the code word 'Cheese', to prove it's really him

1:06-1:07 am: everyone spams Cheese

1:07 am: Jason posts Cheese

At this point, everyone is going crazy and a LOT of new people are joining the server. Jason started to type something in the Discord chat but stopped, presumably because there were a lot of people typing at once. This is also the reason why we didn't share this sooner, so that the server would come down a bit.

We are sure that this has to be Jason. The only other explanation would be that someone faked two selfies AND hacked into his twitter to post cheese, which seems way to unlikely.

Again, this probably doesn't have anything to do with the ARG, it was just a fun little thing that happened, that I thought would be worth sharing :)

TLDR: Guy joined discord server at the same time that Jason liked the link on twitter, and shared selfies that looked like Jason. When we started spamming 'Cheese' as a codeword, Jason posted a cheese emoji on twitter.

So what happened to the supposed cameo by Jason Ritter this season?

Does this reinforce rumors of a stand-alone ‘cabin guy’ episode to come later?

If you don't know Jason Ritter, he's an actor who's also the husband of Melanie Lynsey (Shauna). He was cast for season 2 of Yellowjackets for a small role as he's only guest-starring and did one episode. But we still don't know who he plays.

In an interview, Melanie is asked about his role but says she's unable to give any details at all which means that if she did it would be a spoiler. Seems like it will be significant to the adult plot line. It's unlikely he joins the teen girls unless it's a flashback or hallucination obviously due to the circumstances.

Who do you think he could be playing?
