Laurnce McKenna & True Geordie.

I realise someone has put up something about this already but I've just watched the video and felt I wanted to give my opinion on it.

This is not about hating Laurence, the reality is Laurence has never accepted responsibility for what he has said or how he has acted in the past. Himself and Brian built a career on calling people out "true news", also on the kick off there was plenty of times he would come across as if he was talking down to people in a real arrogant way. The main part of the video that really annoyed me was when he said maybe Jack is happy about having a Negative impact on his life, which is absolutely ridiculous.

This is a real victim stance he has taken now.

I have to say Laurence & Brian were two of the most arrogant egotistical people on the platform. I watched them from the start and you could physically see them changing in front of our eyes. Poisoned by their own success and now look at them. I would genuinely feel sorry for him if he feels a certain way mentally but he needs to hold his hands up properly.

He basically gave a 12 minute rant about Jack and his vid, then at the very end he says " I was on true news and I used to dish it out". He basically just covering himself after ranting about Jack.

New Episode With TRUE GEORDIE

Whats up people, new episode today is a heater. I'm stoked for you guys to check it out. It's delayed a few hours cause YouTube keeps demonetizing it for no reason... that really impacts reach and suggestibility on YouTube, so we gotta wait until it's cleared. Sorry for the delay boys, coming sooooon 🤙🤙

True Geordie and Laurence McKenna beef

Where exactly did the beef with True Geordie and Laurence McKenna begin? I only remember hearing about it in one/two HH episodes but skirted over a bit.

Is it just the Clash of Creators commentary Laurence did? Or is there more to it

I know a lot of his videos get posted on here (mainly by me) but he is now doing stuff for 'The Dream Team' which is run by The Sun. He's doing things like live commentaries for matches and extra content. Do with this information as you will, but I will no longer be posting his content on here.

I’m finally done with TrueGeordie. My take on the downfall of The Kick Off.

I just wanted to share my views as a previously avid fan of TG. For some context, I’ve been watching TG religiously since 2018. I’ve watched every single podcast, Kick Off, Knock Out, Show Down and every YouTube video he’s put out since then.

I always really loved The Kick Off and what the show stood for. I loved the idea of giving the average football fan a voice, and producing a show which was very high quality and competing with the likes of Sky. I felt that the original lineup of TG, Laurence McKenna, Hugh Wizzy, Rory and a rotating guest was superb and brought a variety of different viewpoints to the show every week. Following Wizzy leaving the show, never to return (for reasons we still do not know), the new lineup including TG, Loz, Rory, Adam and Buvey was peak TKO in my opinion. The lockdown period over 2020 and 2021 allowed the show to thrive and the chemistry of the lineup created some easy and informative viewing.

I felt that things started crumbling around 2022, when a deal was signed with Twitch. It was very clear that there was a contract in place which required the TG channel to upload a certain number of hours per period of time, which resulted in the Champions League watch alongs with 2 presenters. The production quality on these streams was not as good as the full table shows, but initially it was a way to become more intimately connected with the fans and viewers of the show. After a period of around 6 months, I think that these streams started to become a chore and the passion for doing these streams dropped. Rory’s choo choo hype trains were no longer to be seen and it soon turned into the presenters eating their dinners on stream while watching the football.

I think that it was also around this time that the show shifted from “a bunch of lads who all support different teams” to a show which was more centered around creating clips for social media, whether that was reactions to goals or arguments, and having intellectual discussions surrounding football that the average person wasn’t about to resonate and associate with. I think this was particularly clear in some of the 2 person shows, when Elliot would clearly tell the presenters “eyes on the screen”, when something was about to happen in the match. This took away the excitement of a genuine reaction and just felt like a forced expression so it could be clipped up and posted on TikTok or YouTube Shorts.

The shift in the conversation from average football fans to intellectual may have been an effort to compete with Sky as they have better, more well informed pundits like ex-players, but it really alienated a lot of that core audience. We were no longer watching mates talking about football like in the pub, it was now more of an analysis show. It wasn’t so much easy watching and listening, it was now a conversation where you really had to focus and listen. While I think that it’s important to consider other opinions, discussions like “would Manchester City be better without Haaland?” And then everyone agreeing that they would be, alienates the average fan.

Over this period, I felt that all members of the TG cast started to shift in their personalities, but especially Laurence and TG. Laurence had become particularly arrogant and stuck up (look at his comments about the YouTube charity match) and seemed to become a version of himself that I didn’t associate with. At this time, I protected him and felt that the online hate as a result of his actions weren’t justified, and I still feel that Jackmate calling him out explicitly openly was wrong, but now looking back on it, he really seemed to stray far from himself. I remember one time where he had a particularly large argument with Adam, where he quoted Adam’s comments back to him and Adam wasn’t having it. The whole situation made for some uncomfortable viewing as Adam gave it back to Loz, who clearly wasn’t expecting that kind of response. TG seems to have gone down a similar path. He’s now a long way from his humble beginnings from Newcastle and is a particularly arrogant and self-righteous person. I feel that he has had some big changes in his life and needs to go back to people close to him who will tell him the truth, because he seems like someone who is completely out of touch. He always disagrees with any criticism and always thinks that he’s right and it’s come over a really long period that I’ve recognised this.

I feel like the whole Andrew Tate controversy was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Brian shouldn’t have said something so hurtful and explicitly racist, and if he had people close enough to him to tell him the truth, he wouldn’t have said that. Loz should’ve pulled him up on it and Rory, Adam and Buvey subsequently left. Prior to this, Elliot and Gio the editor left, so I felt that the channel’s quality was dropping anyway.

One thing which doesn’t sit right with me is the fact that after his Andrew Tate controversy and the 2 apologies, he promised to learn, change and improve and so far, we’ve only seen one video exploring Islam. It feels like a desperate attempt to remain relevant and now that it’s mostly blown over, it’s no longer in his thoughts. Seems shallow to me. Like he didn’t even mean it.

Skip forward a few months and now the streams are usually just Brian sitting at the monitor on his own, talking to the chat, in usually a condescending way, thinking that he’s always right. Streams are no longer titled correctly, Brian has a personal ‘bartender’ and there’s nobody to riff off of. For me, the final straw was in the Villa vs Newcastle stream recorded 1 month ago, where he spent a lot of the stream complaining and moaning about Villa’s time wasting. I read a stat recently which said that Newcastle by far waste the most time out of any Premier League team and the inability to see his own bias turned me off for the final time. I never finished that stream and I haven’t watched another video since.

I have since started watching The Club, as it feels like the good old days, where mates are just chatting football. I really loved the Kick Off and TG, and hope that one day it will return to its former glory, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. I really wish I could watch the old episodes back, but they were all deleted when Twitch banned him. It’s really disappointing because he mentioned in a stream that they’d be put back up, but he said that months ago and it still hasn’t happened. Good luck to TG, I hope he’s able to rediscover and reinvent himself in the future.

Lawrence and True Geordie

I’ve just been listening back to an older episode in which Jack discussed the digs that True Geordie and Lawrence take on him on their show.

Can anyone enlighten me on how/why this started? I know I’m going back a few years but Jack has appeared on the TG Pod a couple of times and I’m sure he used to speak well of him in the past.

What changed? I’ve always found Lawrence to be very unlikeable either way.

Every time he talks about Everton, he acts like we are a championship club that recently got promoted and will get relegated again. Mentioning how "big clubs and their fans don't want to see, Everton vs Chelsea, or Everton vs Liverpool" when his team have been far worse than us for the past decade. Not to mention his shit takes on UFC fights(irrelevant). Its honestly hilarious how he acts like a pundit but doesn't know that we have constantly competed for Europe consistently with the exception of 2 years ago, and the koeman era.
