Jackie MacMullan on Kyrie Irving: "…He said there shouldn't be an NBA draft. Players should go wherever they want to go. We're not someone's property." - from The Ryen Russillo Podcast 1/13/21

Russillo, Simmons and MacMallan held a podcast today to discuss the Harden trade and they touched on Kyrie's absence. MacMullan was certain his absence was due to the USA Capitol riot, based on her political conversations with him over the years.

Anyone hear McDermott on the Ryen Russillo podcast?

He spend a good chunk of time talking Creighton and college hoops, but he also talks a lot about his NBA journey. Ryen asks him to compare all the coaches he's had, and Doug talks about how guys like Carlisle and Pop hold everyone accountable and get buy in across the roster.

He says he's also had super smart X's and O's coaches that didn't have that same buy in and it hurt the team cohesion. Gotta be talking about our Nates, Bjorkgren for certain. You could probably lump Hornacek, Hoiberg, and maybe Billy Donovan at OKC in there as well. Looking back on that 20-21 Pacers team it never seemed like Bjorkgren had buy in from the locker room, and McDermott pretty much reinforces that.

Ryen Russillo Podcast- Will Hardy Interview

Any thoughts on the Russillo podcast with Will Hardy today? I thought it was interesting how he mentioned he doesn't want the team focused on who starts versus who comes off the bench. I feel like during this winning streak, they've really settled into the rotation and it's paying off. I know some of the other teams have been shorthanded, but blowing out NBA talent over a month is good no matter what.

Conspiracy - did Big Cat bring up the infamous Kyle text to try to bring down the Ryen Russillo Podcast?

Conspiracy - did Big Cat bring up the infamous Kyle text to try to bring down the Ryen Russillo Podcast?

For context: Big cat came onto the pod and said Kyle texted him saying next time BC is in LA, to hang out and see if Ryen would come because Kyle hasn’t seen Ryen in person in 2 years.

I’ve been thinking about this since it happened. Is BC trying to cause friction and hurt the pod intentionally? Or does the pod suck lately because the monologues and guests are terrible?
