Starfield info summary from Todd Howard interview/podcast by Lex Fridman

Last post with just the podcast got deleted, as they are banned here, so here is a summary of all Starfield info we got. I cleaned it a little.

Original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9AAnV59ddE

Taken from @_XboxNews on Twitter.

OOPs: Bxrz, krakenking189 and Theorry from ResetEra.

  • Says in Starfield the star systems will have levels attached to them.

  • Says you won't be stranded out in space with no fuel. It's a "fun-killer". Maybe for a hardcore survival mode in the future.

  • Different space suits will have buffs to gases/toxicity/temperature. Will be useful depending on what planet you travel to

  • Robot enemies are confirmed.

  • Not putting Starfield on PS5 helps with focus. Says they've always primarily focused on Xbox when it came to consoles.

  • They went into development focused on Xbox so the exclusivity isn't abnormal for them. Xbox brought Bethesda to consoles with Elder Scrolls: Morrowind

  • Xbox top engineers are helping with Starfield development on Series X/S

  • Delaying Starfield was tough but the right thing to do. They wanted to say they could get it done (given the amount of work left and the amount of time remaining) but it was too much risk involved to the team, the game, the fans and Xbox

  • Says there's added pressure to deliver for everybody with Starfield since they are a platform seller now. Making "THE GAME"

  • Says he prefers console to PC cause hes in front of a PC all day at work

  • The world is generated in tiles, like usual Bethesda games. They made these tiles look like realistic landscapes, put them together, and then wrap them around a planet.

  • Todd says they could do way more than 1000 planets but decided to set a limit due to the detail of naming them and having a distinct feeling about each one.

Todd specifically mentions a "Level 40 System" so different systems will be of varying difficulty.

  • The tone is that space travel should feel dangerous and that they have dialed this back and forth during development. Can possibly mine planets for fuel?

  • "They get into environmental things" on planets. Space suits, buffs, gasses, toxicity, temperature.

  • There are robots. Robots are mostly utility robots.

  • Starfield is a deeply human world.

  • Other ships DO come and go from the starports.

  • You can jump into a system and see a freighter, other ships can contact you.

Extras from what I saw elsewhere and heard myself:

  • Orbits are done in real time.

  • Planets are fully realized.

  • Says he likes the player to feel alone, far from anyone on a planet.

  • "I can get my ship blast off and land there and build myself a home"

  • Says he loves companions and romance systems in games and Starfield will have 4 romance options that are more complex than Fallout 4 - Thanks u/CyberCoom

Again, credits to Bxrz, krakenking189 and Theorry from ResetEra who summed it all up and @_XboxNews on Twitter for sharing.

What's the most outlandish lie you've heard from a wrestler on a shoot interview/podcast?

My favourite at the moment has to be Greg Gagne claiming he was the one who came up with the idea for the nWo while he was working at WCW.

His version had Hulk Hogan leading an "AWA" faction against WCW if I recall.

Also, he and his Dad held a seminar in Las Vegas in the early-90s which was attended by Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture and that's where MMA was born.

ComicsXF Interview Podcast: Jed MacKay Gives More Info On His X-Men Book

https://comicsxf.com/2024/04/23/tcxfip-300-jed-mackay/

Here are some things that stood out to me:

  • He says that his X-Men book will be a different spin on what a team book is. Doesn't specify what that means.

  • He asked for Cyclops specifically.

  • All the members of his X-Men team have not been shown yet. Cyclops, Magik, Juggernaut, Psylock, Idie and Kid Omega are the away team. But the home team who run the base will be Beast, Magneto who is the "spiritual leader" Xorn(Zorn?) who is the team healer and Glob Herman who just kind of hangs out. He also says other X-Men members will pop up from time to time.

  • Jed says that as of right now his X-Men and the Avengers are on relatively good terms. He says he's sick of the Avengers being The Man with their boot on the necks of other heroes. He points to the first issue of his Avengers run where Carol say's "we are not cops". If he did have them come to blows, it would have to be a really good reason and a really good story before he would consider it.

  • He says there is an unannounced X-title that he has read the script of and it's phenomenal

  • Still nobody has asked him if the Sevalith vampires will take part in the Blood Hunt event :(

Interview podcast recommendations

Hi there!

I'm looking for a new podcast. I love interviews with interesting people. The big issue is that the big podcasts that I know about, WTF with Mark Maron, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, etc...they are terrible interviewers, IMHO. The format is more conversational, and not really a good Q&A format.

I LOVE Terri Gross & Fresh Air - basically I'd like more of that.

Any suggestions?

In what was their first ever joint interview, I spoke to John and Aaron about listening to music differently, 16-hour jams, friendship in music, actual speed dealer moms, jungle, Bangface and so much more. I think this interview is really a bit special so I do hope you enjoy it."

Photo of podcast interview with WR, photo in comments.

Iam not listening to it, don’t need to. She has been setting this up with all of her posts showing her poor baby at risk, encouraging the conflict in her comments section so she can play the victim. Unfortunately, when she posts evidence of safety risks or not wearing pants, it not only encourages actual concern, but some real ableist comments because she is not challenging the stereotypes associated with disabled people, but encouraging it in her comments. She knows the kinds of comments she is going to get.

I can smell her narcissism from here

Interview Podcast Ranking?

Somewhat new to the genre but I started with armchair, then tried Smartless, then Life is Short. Today I’m going to try Conan’s because I love Jason Segel. I don’t seem to have a way to listen to Stern, but Dax is always talking about him. All of them are good for comfort listening, or background while I’m working. Despite both hosts getting under my skin frequently, I think armchair remains my favorite because their guests often feel comfortable going deeper and they don’t always shy away from heavier/more uncomfortable topics. It’s a pretty therapeutic show for me, and we get to learn in the expert episodes! Smartless is pretty surfacey but is good for a laugh and it’s nice to have hosts who have more experience in the industry than both Dax and Monica. Their collective knowledge and experience can lead to some interesting questions. Life is Short unfortunately feels a little dry but I think Justin Long is very sweet and of all the het. white guys featured on these three podcasts, I’d probably get along with him the best haha. What are your favorites/least favorites and why? Are there any good ones I’m missing?

Looking for Guests for a interview based podcast

Hey, guys! Chris Carlson here from The Podcasting Couch. I host a weekly interview based podcast, and am looking for people who would be willing to sit down for 45-60 minutes to promote their show while we chat about their lives, inspiration, and whatever else comes up.

I usually try to book shows myself, but I can only listen to so many shows. If you have a regular release schedule and decent sounding equipment, I'd love to have you on!

Please email me at thepodcastingcouchpodcast@gmail.com for more information if this sounds like something you'd be interested in.

Edit: Wow! The response to this has been great! Thanks everyone for your emails, they're really starting to pile up. If I haven't replied to you yet, I'm working on it, I promise. I have to try to listen to at least one episode of each before signing off on it, so it'll be a little bit. Please be patient with me!

In search of guests for new interview-based podcast

I'm going a little stir-crazy cooped up in my house during the pandemic. I'm immunocompromised so I'm pretty much stuck in my house for the next few weeks... so this seems like a good time to try out a new podcast idea I'd like to get out there. If anyone else is restless and antsy and wants to record on a brand new podcast with someone, come join me! My goal is to get my first episode out at the beginning of April, so I'm looking to record a couple episodes ASAP.

The show is called "What's It Like," and the basic premise is me interviewing people about one specific experience. These could be extremely unique experiences ("What's it like to win the lottery?") or extremely common, even seemingly boring, ones ("What's it like to work a 9-to-5 office job?") to everything in between. It's all about learning from each other's experiences. My goal with this ultimately would be to have a huge list of experiences documented on the podcast, so anyone going through a similar experience can listen to somebody else talk about it for some solidarity, and anyone who's never had that experience can learn a little bit more about what it might be like. Literally nothing's off the table as long as you're willing to answer some questions about it!

If you're interested, fill out this form to give me a sense of some topics or experiences you might want to talk about, and I will contact you to get a time set up.

I love episodes where Matt and Bowen have their friends on and they just chat and riff and have a good time. In general I don’t enjoy celebrity interview podcasts (like Armchair Expert), just not my thing. It seems like over the last several months there are more celebrity interviews than fun chatty episodes. Is this normal? Im a relatively recent listener. Thanks!
