Comedy podcast

Does anyone feel like comedy podcasts have devolved into the most insufferable shit that you can listen to? I’ve been following this subreddit for a little while now, and it seems like the issues everyone has with Schaub is a microcosm for most peoples feeling towards the entire comedy podcasting scene.

I got out of podcasts for a couple years but I’m now getting back into them because my job now is pretty computer oriented so I can listen to stuff more frequently. I used to listen to YMH years ago but now that I’ve gone back to it I’m shocked at how unfunny and boring it’s become, like they’re still playing the same clips I saw then find almost 5 years ago. I tried to listen to Joe Rogan, and even before the pandemic he was pretty unrelatable but holy shit, all he talks about now is cancel culture and fucking ice-baths? All the people that he had on years ago that would talk interesting and crazy shit just spend the entire time sucking off Joe for how courageous he has been against “cancel culture”. Like I just want to hear about bigfoot, or ancient civilisations.

And it’s not just Joe, it seems every podcast in the LA circuit is just money grabbers complaining now. I tried to listen to a new Tim Dillon episode and was shocked that half the episode was fucking commercials (the old ad reads were the best part).

Even the stuff that’s not in the LA circuit is turning completely unlistenable. I feel like MSSP has just turned into just Shane talking about him trying to be friends with Drake, or his experiences partying with athletes and celebrities. I don’t even know what the fuck cumtown turned into, I can either listen to Stav sit on a high horse and talk down to everyone who calls in or how he likes to eat pussy, or Adam completely barred out of his mind try to interview celebrities no one cares about on a $500,000 set while Nick fails to be a TV show writer.

I know this is completely stupid to complain about, but honestly I just want something funny to listen to without being brow beat about “wokeism” or how their maid didn’t get them the right type of coffee. Like, yeah, I don’t think you should pump kids full of hormones or that there’s 199 genders but jesus christ, you don’t need to wave your political flags every 20 minutes. Who gives a fuck? I’m listening to this stuff so I can get a laugh at work over a stupid youtube video someone saw or a weird thing that happened to someone (that doesn’t include a mention about their bugatti or some shit).

Is there just too much money in podcasting? It seems like it went from just regular guys sitting down and bullshitting telling jokes, to guys who are just trying to become famous by any means necessary and everything being so contrived/over the top that it seems like a Kardashian wrote it.

I work 11 hour shifts for my job and get to listen to podcasts while working. Looking for something to keep me awake throughout the night. Suggest to me a goofy or funny podcast, midly educational is a bonus.

I have recently stopped listening to almost all comedy podcasts in the Rogansphere. And frankly I have no idea how I made it this far in the first place. This past weekend: boring and repetitive, Tigerbelly: repetitive an fake, YMH: boring (except for recent Louis CK episode), JRE: never listened since moved to Spotify, Tfatk: haven’t listened in YAIRS B and some more I don’r recall rn.

Most of those used to be genuinely fun and/or novel. Now I just feel like wasting my time listening to dumb people speak.

Anyone else just stopped listening?

EDIT: I also realized that most of these comedians are drug addicts (Bobby Lee and his “weed” addiction lmao), alcoholics (Brent), rapists, pedos, narcissists and opportunists

What I mean is there are plenty of podcasts where two or three people sit around making jokes about whatever’s going on that week.

I’d like a podcast that’s about an interesting topic that also happens to be funny.

Exactly what the title says, looking for recommendations on comedy podcasts. I do like Comedy Bang Bang, but it can be pretty hit or miss depending on the guests and characters. Conan's great but that one is also hit or miss (although more hit than miss). Threedom is a personal favorite of mine. I also like Small Town Murder and Crime in Sports, so I'm not opposed to dark humor. This Is Important is also good, but I tend to take breaks from that one, for whatever reason. If y'all have any good suggestions let me know!

I love Bad Friends and Tiger Belly but have listened to all the episodes now. I also listen to YMH, and 2 bears, as well as scissor bros, Harland Highway and Whiskey ginger, but what are some other great comedy podcasts?

I don’t like the fighter and the kid, am getting tired of YMH stuff, am over Bertcast (something’s burning has its moments). Heard stiff socks was alright, but any other bangers? Like Bobby and Andrew level funny?

Because the pod changed so much just like other including Bert, Tom, and a few others that surround themselves with yes men because they don't want their cash cow to dry up. There's only a handful that have kept it real like Theo and Joey Diaz in the universe of comedy pods. Breaks my heart watching old stuff compared to now

Does anyone have any comedy podcast recommendations? I love listening to these guys but it’s only once a week. I need something to make me laugh the other six days of the week.

I'm about to take off on a road trip and want something funny that will keep me on edge/awake with unexpected or bizarre/weird humor. Can be improv, fiction, interviews, really anything where I can expect to be caught off guard with laughter. I have really enjoyed Welcome to Night Vale, Whatever Happened to Pizza at McDonald's and Hollywood Handbook. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

So I really enjoy comedy podcasts to just feel good and relax, but it's always difficult to find a good new one when I run out of episodes to listen to. Can you guys recommend something? My favourites are: my dad wrote a porno, this paranormal life, dangeons & daddies, sitcom D&D, distractible

I've run out of episodes for this podcast I listen to called trauma and triggers, they update regularly and their episode are fairly long (1-2 hours ish). The show is really funny the hosts have great banter and talk about interesting topics mostly involving sex and psychology.

I'm interested in lots of different topics like true crime, history, politics, sexuality, psychology, but I really enjoy more comedic podcasts with female hosts. Any recommendations????

I’ve dropped a lot of the true crime podcasts I was devoted to over the years —My Favorite Murder, Small Town Dicks, Big Mad True Crime, Mens Rea, etc.—and primarily listen to things like Ologies, Lovett or Leave it, This is Love, Maintenance Phase and Romancing the Pod and I feel like my mental health has really taken a turn for the better.

I don’t know when this happened. I really don’t know why. But I was wondering if anyone else is turning away from true crime and into other genres of podcasts?
