Richard Gadd is 'struggling to cope with fame' as fans 'camp in his garden'

Richard Gadd has spoken out now about how he's struggling in the aftermath of Baby Reindeer's success.

The Scots comedian, 34, says the Netflix show Baby Reindeer’s runaway success means he is unable to walk the streets.

He expected the show to sit as “a little cult artistic gem” when it first aired, only to wake up and find people camping in his garden.

But I did not come out of that show feeling any sympathy for Martha. I can understand why she probably does what she does and the part where she shared about her baby reindeer, it was definitely sad. But from seeing the posts here I feel like people empathise a lot with her and I just do not feel that way. I feel like what she did is like my absolute nightmare. Idk if this makes me a bad person or what.

Does anyone feel this way ?

I don’t see her being a parent at all. In S3 E3 she says, “Can you imagine having a kid? Ew.” I loved her abortion storyline and that she says she didn’t regret it at all. Not every woman wants to be a mom! She still gets a happy ending. Kids aren’t a necessity for that and the show proves it. No forced parenting!

I have spoken to 'Martha'

So storytime...I used to work for a major retailer in a call centre. When I first started working there, I received an email from a disgruntled customer who was spouting racist venom about a black security guard in one of our stores. I replied to the email, and was later pulled up on it by my manager. They explained that this customer emails us all the time and the company does not reply to her any more. I checked the history of contact between the customer and the company, and saw hundreds of emails, complaining about this black security guard over and over. I told my manager I would no longer reply and thought nothing of it further. I worked there for several years, and her emails would pop up every so often. I'd log them on the system and not reply as no further action was to be taken due to the levels that she was harassing this company and security guard. I eventually left the company as I got another job

Anyway, I watched Baby Reindeer recently. I decided to message a friend, an ex colleague of the previously mentioned company, about the show to ask them what they thought about it, because it seemed like something they'd be into. Immediately, they called me. The conversation went something like this:

Friend: Oh my god, that Baby Reindeer has sent the whole office into a meltdown.

Me: Why?

Friend: Do you remember years ago we had that customer who would always email us racist stuff about the security guard in one of our stores?

Me: Yeah?

Friend: Remember what her name was?

Me: No..?

Friend: Fiona Harvey

Me: Oh my god!

Friend: Yeah... it's her!

So yeah, I actually interacted with her. If I recall she gave me a 1 star rating for my email reply.

Quite frankly, I almost feel insulted there was no discussion of watching FIRE WALK WITH ME to skip ahead to maximum confusion. Lynch, I know you've been very busy but don't forget your ultimate red-headed Hayward sister who may or may not have been found in the lumberyard.

But seriously, what did happen to Alexis' acting style?

I know we all joke about skipping the Yale seasons when we rewatch, but seriously, what actually happened to Alexis' acting style? I was watching a later ep where she makes the comment "Logan, I wasn't working blue!" and her delivery is so hammy compared to earlier seasons.

Why do you think her approach to the character changed so much? I loved slightly somber, deep voiced, oh so cool Rory and I'm curious why other fans think she completely shifted the character.

Some will say the writing, but I think we would all find the later seasons way more bearable if it were season 2 Rory in season 6. Are there any later scenes where you saw a glimmer of former Rory peeking through? Thoughts!
