Oh I love Toni! Loved the line ‘not me vagina’ when she’s in the stocks 😂

That line had us cracking up 😂

Toni: ow my eye I’m not supposed to get bread in it

Tiff and Cynthia have done so well, and should truly be proud.

Also, does this make them the highest ranking First Nations team in TARAUS history?

u/jonno98 avatar

Jas and Jerome came second.

u/Apple_Slipper avatar
Edited

Jasmin & Jerome finished 2nd Place in TAR Australia Season 4. Here are the ranks of the First Nations Indigenous teams in TAR Australia so far:

  • Jasmin & Jerome (TAR Australia Season 4) - 2nd Place

  • Tiffany & Cynthia (TAR Australia Season 6) - 4th Place

  • Dwes & Katherine (TAR Australia Season 5) - 10th Place

  • Adam & Dane (TAR Australia Season 2) - 11th Place

  • Stuart & Glennon (TAR Australia Season 6) - 13th Place

What an ending!

Damn I'd need to be doing some cardio before I even thought about entering.

Also: full marks to the camera people for keeping up!

u/ValuePsychological74 avatar

I was thinking that too. At least they didn’t have a yard glass full of beer in them… well don’t think they did considering the steady camera work, haha!!

u/fg7893 avatar

This was actually more dramatic ending the supposed other ending in Belize.

Wait I missed it, did they go back and get the bumbag?

Yes! And they still placed first!

u/jhutch2147 avatar

Oh well done indeed! I didn’t see it and thought it was controversial they were allowed to check in

Oh hahaha

I mean they are in Australia and they don't need a passport for interstate travel, 🤷

Such an exciting finish!

It didn’t show them go back for it at all.

Lmao this thread is like 100 days old

Is it just me or are teams insanely close to each other all season?

Like are the tasks too simple, leg design too straight forward or are the teams just so good that the margin of error is so small that the teams are on top of each other throughout the leg.

Maybe its that. Maybe they are all hustling.

Legs and tasks are too simple (see: 10 minute penalties for 10 minute tasks) plus the show forcing Hours of Operation and bunching points in the middle of Legs and even before Pit Stops.

for a semi-final the tasks were too mundane & dumb even. There weren't any skills involved just brute strength & luck...Guess that's what happens when you design a leg too many!

It happens in the US version too. They make the tasks visually spectacular without questioning the level of skill or luck needed to pass them.

u/ValuePsychological74 avatar

I just watched the US opener and it had breaking a block of a ice, sawing a piece of wood and rolling a beer keg around some hay bales. I think the Aussies do a great job!! I especially like they showcase specific features of each country, I’ve learnt a lot along the way. And you have to remember they suffered a lot of last minute covid changes which obviously affected things greatly.

1st leg(rookies): breaking a block of ice (precision or brute strength), sawing wood (technique that only few figured out), rolling a keg (endurance and speed that gets low each failed attempt) compared to SEMI-FINAL drinking beer (just nauseating nothing else), throw food into faces while other teams are side by side (copying angel's and frankie's technique & dumb luck) and carrying bags around was brute strength and the only challenge that made a little bit of sense. Wrong comparison, unfortunately.
This isn't the only leg audience have had an issue with the challenges on TARAUS. I am not even comparing with TARUS as they mess up each season here and there aswell. But due to SOOO many TARAUS legs there have been penalties inconsistency, editing inconsistencies, covid issues and I am sorry but most of the challenges were dancing (not even tough ones) and other repetitive easy tasks and this wasn't a semi-final vibe. IMO there should be no more than 12 legs and alot more effort should be put into designing tasks rather than just making teams run around with their heads cut off. Not to mention if it's all endurance based the covid teams shouldn't even be given a chance since they sat out so many legs.

u/ValuePsychological74 avatar

Wow. Depends on whether you are a glass half full or half empty person I guess! Can see where you are coming from to a degree, if you are talking about wanting them to step up for a semi final, although the previous legs with the aerobatic plane was pretty darn cool. Gotta remember the US budget would be much much bigger than AUS, which incidentally has done the same wood sawing challenge in a previous season, and you’d think surely the US has too so maybe a repeat??

Sure they’ve had disappointing covid issues, which was obviously beyond their control. We have no idea the stress it surely caused behind the scenes. I’m glad they continued and we have a race to watch. But yeah maybe just once or twice a week might be a good option.

What have been the challenges on this season you have enjoyed the most?

I loved the water sellers in Marrakesh, so vibrant and interesting. Belly dancing was fun and as hard as any US dance I’ve seen, but I think with so many teams we just didn’t see as many performances (pass and the many fails). The Turkish meat challenge was full on, and the Santorini donkeys very physically challenging.

I thought the cenotes stunning, as were the coloured buildings, flags and horse carriage in Mexico all which were quite clever and really wasn’t the productions fault the teams worked together. I mean sure you expect alliances at the start but not so close the end!

In Columbia the cooking and kids school was a definite highlight, and enjoyed seeing the graffiti streets in the selfie challenge. The clay target throwing stumped some teams as well. Oh and back to Turkey as the jet boat car was super fun, really really want to give that a go!! Also would love to visit that blue city in Morocco and go diving in Belize. They really did go to some lovely locations.

u/ValuePsychological74 avatar
Edited

Also I think they have to cater to all sorts of viewers…. my friends can like watching different challenges than I do. And I guess they try to have an array of skillsets for the various teams too. Like was great when we discovered hidden talents of the cop and indigenous girl skateboarding. Wasn’t expecting that!

They start off seconds apart, most the tasks aren't particularly hard, and they have smartphones for navigating most of the time.

OH ok. The smartphones Im gonna say make an insane difference.

I miss when teams have to stop and ask for directions. Has a team gotten lost this season? I think Lauren and Steph did on their elim episode.

Seeing Rotto is bringing back memories! (from just three months ago lol) Wish they'd do more there but tbh not sure what else they can do except swim, cycle, or take quokka selfies haha

A yard glass of non alcoholic beer? 🤮

Underarm definitely seems to get closer in this challenge, Heath needs to adjust his throw.

Shout out to the gal who jumped out of the **plane for the task demo! Looked like they had a lot of fun ahaha

The Cheap Seats (show after TAR Australia) showcases Beau asking one of the boxing ladies about whether she had kids at the El Minaret Casa Blanca Pitstop in Mérida, as well as Pako & Mori riding bikes at Ek'Balam.

Oh this is interesting, how will Kelly and Georgia do a challenge in the next leg around countries that they didn't get the chance to visit when they were in iso?

I hope they start it from Mexico or the second Belize leg or something. If they do countries before Mexico, especially Turkey, but excluding Colombia and Belize, it might slightly disadvantage Heath & Toni and Angel & Frankie by having more events to remember/distinguish.

In TAR Canada, they only included clues from legs that all teams did in the finale memory challenge.

Here's the summary for TAR Australia S06E20!

  • The new intro features a montage of the 4 remaining teams.

  • Route Info: Teams make their way on foot from the Clock Tower in Freemantle, WA to Victoria Quay. Teams must take a ferry to Rottnest Island, WA.

  • Roadblock: Who's ready to drop?Teams make their way via Segway to the Geronimo Skydive Rottnest Airfield. One racer must take a plane and then freefall for 1 minute while skydiving. After teams land at the dropoff point, the skydiver will give them their next clue.

  • Toni: "I was at 4,000 ft yesterday and he's [Heath] at 15,000 ft!"

  • Route Info: Teams make their way back to Freemantle, WA via ferry and find the Gage Roads Brewing Company at Freemantle and find a 1.5 tonne of malt. Teams must carry 20 sacks of malt to the factory and stack them properly. Teams must then drink a yard glass (1.4L) of non-alcoholic beer. Once teams finish their drink, they will receive their next clue.

  • Angel: "I'd be poopin' my pants right now."

  • The Ubank sponsors the skydiving event on TAR Australia.

  • Frankie was used to carry heavy objects at his warehouse job in the past.

  • Toni: "I'm a real woman!"

  • Angel had experience with beer in the past at casual celebrations.

  • Route Info: Teams make their way on foot to the Freemantle Round House, where one racer takes the role of the prison guard, and their partner as the convict in the stocks. One team member must throw the rations at their partner. Once the partner catches a SPAM (spiced ham) and bread with their mouths, they will drink lime juice to prevent scurvy. Then the racer must ring the curfew bell. Once teams complete the task, they will receive their next clue.

  • Beau: "This is... really, really bad."

  • Kelly (to Georgia): " Think of it like kombucha."

  • Georgia: "Beer tastes like cat wee and old stinky shoes."

  • Kelly: "They are the loudest burps I've ever done in my entire life."

  • Heath: "I'm good at beer pong, why is this not working?"

  • Toni (to Heath): "Not me vagina!"

  • Tiffany & Cynthia mentioned about a team (Kelly & Georgia) leaving their bum bag.

  • Tiffany: "4 phones are better than 1."

  • Kelly: "Put it in my mouth."
    Georgia: "That's what she said!"
    Kelly: "Happy wife, happy life."

  • Heath caught a cramp, so he swapped roles with Toni.

  • Angel's strategy was to turn the other side with her mouth facing the sky, making the challenge easier.

  • Angel: "Nek minnit, the next thing I saw was that the other teams were copying us!"

  • Route Info: Teams must find the Statue of Bon Scott (AC/DC) at the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour to find their next clue.

  • Insert Bon Scott's "YEEAAHH!!", LOL

  • Kelly & Georgia realised that they left their bum bag at the brewery.

  • Angel: "Statue? Statue Bon Scott? Statue, bro?"

  • Pitstop: Teams make their way to the South Mole Lighthouse. The last team to check in WILL be eliminated.

  • Kelly & Georgia won 1st Place.

  • Angel & Frankie (2nd Place).

  • Heath & Toni (3rd Place).

  • Tiffany & Cynthia checked in Last Place and are now eliminated.

  • Cynthia: "We're two strong black women! Indigenous women!"

  • Next Episode: Teams have a memory task to complete in the Outback. Only one team will win TAR Australia Season 6!

u/Hawk301 avatar

Impressive that Georgia and Kelly still made it in first, even after having to go back for the bumbag. Gee whiz that's the tightest finish ever, though.

Feels like if Kelly hadn't listened to Georgia about going back at the point when they did, or if Georgia hadn't insisted as hard on it, they probably could've gone home there

So disappointed that they spent so little time on rottnest island.

u/CreswickOctober avatar

Beau can't drink from a glass?

u/mistoqq avatar

u/CreswickOctober avatar

FML I feel bad for Tiffany & Cynthia

u/Apple_Slipper avatar

Same. Definitely a great underdog team this season!

Same, sad for them. They did extremely well and it looked like they were really close. Didn't really do anything wrong here except the other teams were much faster. Glad they had a unique and thorough send-off.

FML is right. I really hoped that the bum bag was going to be the end for Kelly and Georgia.

More replies

for next episode: if Kelly/Georgia really did write down everything (per preview), and if peoples theory about the clock towers is true, they could definitely pull out an underdog win here. I was sad to see the last few teams go but I’m excited that the finale is here!! crazy that we’ve seen 20 teams go down to 3 this last month

when is last ep start

u/WittyContribution avatar

I'm predicting a Kelly & Georgia win. They had a weird edit in an earlier leg, when it was a KOR leg. It panned to Georgia asking Kelly if he knew what time they landed on the mat, and Kelly responded 4pm. It was quite odd which is why I took note of it.

Someone mentioned very early on in one of these threads that the clocks were going to play a part in the final leg because we keep seeing clock towers in the episodes, so for me when that scene aired, it was foreshadowing that they have everything jotted down for when/if they reached the final leg.

Hard to see past a dominant last leg performance from them now, although personally I'd prefer either of the other two teams to win - they've contributed much more to the race and I've found both teams to be both way more entertaining. Trying to think of some Kelly & Georgia highlights and nothing is coming to mind?

u/Hawk301 avatar
Edited

Yeah I didn't rate their chances before, but actually they do for sure give off the impression that they're about to smash whatever the finale memory challenge is - I think their teacher-ness is going to play to their advantage when it's revealed that they've been taking extensive notes throughout the whole race. (And I'm sure they're anticipating a memory challenge, because they're TAR fans and active on the subreddit lol, and they were talking on another post about how they were binging the old TARAus seasons whilst quarantining).

Which I think would, in and of itself, be a highlight for them, if they end up winning the whole thing due to good preparation. That and the fact that they're already starting in pole position is going to give them a really good shot at it I think.

I thought a highlight for Georgia was when she powered through the sheep intestines (I think it was?) in Turkiye, despite being a vegetarian. Good showcase of determination and competitiveness, especially contrasted with the Vegan Warriors who totally crumbled on similar grounds in their first leg.

u/ValuePsychological74 avatar

I thought they were contenders right from the start, winning the first leg. Shame they got covid as am sure they lost fans for being a returning team. All 3 finalists are strong teams, it will be a great finale.

Seems like getting covid kinda put them off a little but where able to power through. Like a sports team going through a slow patch before coming back hard for finals

Pako & Mori and Kathy & Chace have been commenting but no where near as regular as Kelly & Georgia - they're on every episode discussion.

The winners tend to give themselves away by getting so involved during the airing of their season. James & Will did a podcast, Kim & Penn also did one... Kelly & Georgia are involved in every episode discussion. The winners can't help themselves lol. I don't blame them, they're probably excited but it's very spoilery.

Edit: Also Jodie's been on here and commented a couple of times, too!

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but just watching them last night and the guys carrying both lots of bags again in the run up to the mat. It'd be great if there was a rule you had to carry your own bag at this point. I noticed Tiffany and Cynthia mention when carrying the sacks of malt that it'd be good to have a guy help carry them. :-) They were a great team and well done to them. Love Toni too - couldn't stop laughing at her vagina comment!

Fair enough given the prize!

"Kelly doesn't scare me."

Kelly's burping face:

i have been saying it all along! Kelly and george are in top 3! could they have been more obvious?! :/ i hope heath n toni win! don't care about the other teams one bit. why does the warning at the beginning keep giving away who's gonna be eliminated. That's twice this season.

I'm not 100% sure Kelly and Georgia win but If I had to bet, they are.

They travel full-time know, I'm guessing 250k helps with that. Don't think they meant to spoil they won but I think they do.

I want Heath and Toni to win though

u/ValuePsychological74 avatar

I’d actually be happy for any of the final 3 to win!

More replies

I bet they couldn’t wait to come on Reddit so they could boast about their success on the race 🙄😏 if they win, I will be pissed. They are such an underwhelming and bland team. I also would like Heath and Toni to win.

They said that they are full time travelling now which makes many of us think they won.

Gonna be super pissed if that's true and they spoiled the finale.

Yes I read that comment from them. I’m surprised there aren’t rules preventing them from talking openly on social media until all episodes are televised.

i was wondering the same. There should be a contract in place to limit social media interactions until the finale, atleast!

Goddamnit. They got their bum bag in time.

Why did they hold teams at the ferry before the beer task? Like, they held them and staggered their departure from the ferry again instead of having all of them run out.

u/ValuePsychological74 avatar

I didn’t mind it as seemed fair to depart in the order they left the previous challenge.

They do that every leg.

More replies

Ah I hope they can get their bumbag in time!

If Kelly didn't listen to Georgia to go back for the bag or Georgia gave in, they could have been eliminated and that would have been devastating on Kelly x2 - for losing the bumbag and for thinking it wasn't important!

u/Apple_Slipper avatar

Georgia saved the day there!

u/ValuePsychological74 avatar

She seems very observant, knowing the rules and remembering how it played out previously. And good observation skills look like they are about to come in handy next leg!
