Husband pays rent for a full year and put his wife’s half into a surprise savings. People are saying he’s a loser.

I can’t post the screenshots of these comments because it would go against the rules of text heavy pictures.

Saw a TikTok a bit ago, this woman’s husband took her half of rent at their new home together and placed it into a savings for a full year. Meaning he payed 100% of the first years bills so his wife can have 10k saved when the holiday came.

Somehow people are twisting this into him being a shitty husband because “he gave her money back” as a “gift.” That he’s a man so it’s expected to be providing for all bills. Not realizing again…he payed 100% of the bills. To these people it’s a “reimbursement” even though her money was never spent to begin with.

Maybe I’m wrong here but as a young gal, I cannot save money for the life of me. I’m in a 50/50 relationship. It doesn’t matter if I’m paying bills or not. I’m a spender. This was one of the most thoughtful ideas I’ve seen in awhile, personally. It just pissed me off that people don’t see it as that nor do they understand how much of a privilege it is to never have bills. Also, these people claiming it should always be 100% of the man paying don’t even make the money for savings. So are they just expecting 10k to be given with no work??

People are so out of touch anymore.

Boomers angry I gave them good news

This happened a couple of years ago, but I'm still confused by it. My parents and their siblings (all Boomers) went nuts with MAGA and Fox News. They also got my gma into it. My mom was staying with my gma when someone told them that Antifa was going door to door killing rich people. Obviously they believed it, and were hiding in the house and trying to find weapons. They kept sending messages about how scared they were.

This didn't sound real, so I went online and checked it out. Apparently a neo-nazi group had posted this to scare people. So I did the reasonable thing and contacted them with proof that it was a hoax so they could stop being afraid. A few minutes later, I get a call from my father, who was furious. He yelled at me for not being supportive of their feelings. My parents and aunts and uncles stopped talking to me for months over this. Apparently I was supposed to feed into their delusion. Who in the world gets angry when you try to take away their fears?

Had to shut down my neighbor yesterday

My boomer neighbor was ranting to me yesterday about how he thought it was unfair that a bunch of police and firefighters were catching heat because they were openly cheering on Trump. He thinks I’m sympathetic to that because I work alongside those groups. After hearing this for a moment I stopped him mid sentence and told him that I found it entirely unprofessional and inappropriate that a public servant would ever cheer on any political candidate while in uniform. He tried explaining his way out and telling me that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I agreed with it partially, but told him that they shouldn’t be endorsing anyone while on duty. After 20 minutes of circle talk he still didn’t understand why this was problematic.

Nothing infuriates me more than the fact that hospitals ask for "kind people to donate organs and blood" then proceeded to sell them at a price nobody without insurance can afford.

So it's illegal to sell my own organs and blood but its not illegal for hospitals to sell mine??? US healthcare system is fucking crazy. It relys on donations and kind hearted people yet operates to make as much money as possible.

edit: The fact that im being downvoted for advocating for affordable healthcare is crazy. Im not deleting it no matter how many people hate what i say. The government should be the ones paying the hospital staffs salary. Its shouldnt fall onto a 30-40k a year worker to pay the salary of a 250-350k a year surgeon. Forgive me if it's offensive to suggest the the government has a duty to protect people against all threats and not just the "threats" halfway across the world. If the government and afford billions to a country 99% of america couldnt point to on a map before the war then they can afford to pay life saving procedures and lifelong medical expenses like diabetes for its citizens.

Why do boomers act like we’re not allowed to have interests?

Why do boomers act like we’re not allowed to have interests?

Anytime I talk about my guinea pigs in front of my dad, he snaps at me, even when I’m not talking to HIM about it. I am usually talking to my mom about them when I’m in front of him (she doesn’t get angry because she thinks they’re cute, but she gets angry if I talk about stuff she doesn’t care about) and he gets angry and calls them filthy rodents. He talks about how he is sick of hearing about them and that they die at 2 years old, so they don’t matter (they can live up to 8 years). It is like this with every other topic I speak to him/in front of him about, other than my grades and classes in college.

But he expects me to care 100% about his “vintage” sports cars from the 40s-60s and every repair he is constantly getting on them. He ALWAYS talks about them and I’m supposed to care about the ludicrous money-sinks that he so loves. I thought he just acted this way because he is a lawyer but my mom does this too, as well as the other boomers in my life.

Why do they get angry about OUR interests, but expect us to be invested in theirs?

Edit: muted the post since y’all are so angry with me :) Edit: I am 20. Yes, my father is 70 and my mother is 60. Yes, she gave birth to me. I don’t understand why this is so confusing to some people.
