How to fully uninstall and remove any Evidence of Riot Games from your PC. How to fully uninstall and remove any Evidence of Riot Games from your PC.
  1. If you have Riot Vanguard Installed: You can uninstall it by right-clicking on its icon in the system tray and selecting "Uninstall." Alternatively, you can uninstall it through the Windows search bar. Type "Add or Remove programs" and search for "Riot Vanguard" in the list. Click on it and select "Uninstall." (Easy Difficulty)

  2. Uninstalling Riot Games: Open the Windows settings and navigate to "Apps & features." Here, you can uninstall all the games developed by Riot Games, such as League of Legends and Valorant. (Easy Difficulty)

  3. Uninstalling Riot Client: Unlike other programs, Riot Client doesn't have a built-in uninstaller.

  • Open File Explorer and navigate to "C:\Program Files" (or your chosen installation directory).

  • Look for a folder named "Riot Games."

  • If there's a subfolder named "Riot Client" within it, delete that folder.

  • Repeat step 2 for "C:\Program Files (x86)" (if applicable). (Nightmare Difficulty)

  1. Documents Folder: Open your Documents folder. Locate and delete any folders related to Riot Games, such as League of Legends or Valorant.

  2. Close all unnecessary windows like Documents, Apps & features, and File Explorer. Open the Windows search bar. Type %AppData% (including the percent symbols). In the search bar at the top right corner of the AppData folder, type "Riot." Wait for search. Delete all folders and files related to "Riot Games" or "Riot Client."

  3. Optional: Registry Cleanup (for Advanced Users)

Warning: Editing the registry can be risky if done incorrectly. It's recommended only for users comfortable with modifying system settings.

  1. Open Registry Editor (with Caution):

  • Type "regedit" in the Windows search bar.

  • Important: Proceed only if you understand the risks involved.

  1. Search for Riot Client Entries:

  • Click on "Computer" in the registry editor window.

  • Press Ctrl+F to open the find dialog.

  • Type "Riot Client" and press Enter. The search might take a while.

  1. Delete Riot Client Entries:

  • The first result will likely be something like "C:\riot games\riot client\riotclientelectron\riot client.exe.ApplicationCompany."

  • Delete all entries that contain "Riot Games" or "Riot Client" in their names.

  • After deleting an entry, press Ctrl+F again to continue searching.

  • Delete the following entries if found:

    • "RiotClientService" (folder and its value)

    • The registry key named "riotclient" (with a folder icon)

    • The entry for launching "RiotClientService" in background mode (delete only the value, not the entire key)

    • Any additional entries related to Riot Client or Riot Games (optional)

  • While you are in Registry Editor search "riot vanguard" or "vanguard" to be sure it is fully gone... the only entries should event-logs which is up to you to delete. I would keep a Record that you uninstalled it in case one day it is mysteriously back on your PC so you can sue Riot Games because "When companies tell consumers they will safeguard their personal information, the FTC can and does take law enforcement action to make sure that companies live up these promises.".

  • "There are many ways a person can be harmed by the revelation of sensitive personal information. Medical records, psychological tests and interviews, court records, financial records--whether from banks, credit bureaus or the IRS--welfare records, sites visited on the Internet and a variety of other sources hold many intimate details of a person's life. The revelation of such information can leave the subjects vulnerable to many abuses."

  • Exit Registry Editor:

  • Once you've removed all desired entries, close the registry editor.

  • No company in the USA should be allowed to circumvent a US citizen's Fourth Amendment rights.

  • "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Privacy Concerns with Kernel-Level Software:

Many users are concerned about the privacy implications of software that operates at the kernel level (Ring-0). This type of software has high access privileges and could potentially be exploited by malicious actors.

The recent case of Genshin Impact's kernel-level anti-cheat being potentially misused by ransomware highlights these concerns.

It's understandable to be hesitant about software like Riot Vanguard, especially considering the large player base involved. While developers invest heavily in security, vulnerabilities can still exist.

For those interested in learning more, searching "Ransomware Genshin Impact" can provide additional information.

It's incredibly frustrating that Riot Client doesn't have a built-in uninstaller.

You're all set! Enjoy your newfound gaming freedom. Auf Nimmerwiedersehen!
