We all know this is fooling no one. No other competitor Microsoft has freely shares their proprietary source code with them and gives them a licence to use it how they see fit.

Going forward I think Microsoft will deliberately diversify when it comes to AI for this reason. Depending on the task it will use the most cost efficient model suited to that task. Copilot is about to be powered by a number of different models I think.

The one example I remember from a year or so ago is this professional footballer that was charging ad companies $500,000 for an instagram post to his something like 100m plus followers? Instagram is now telling advertisers that not all of his 100m followers will even see his posts on their timelines anymore, and if they want to give instagram $500,000 instead they will make sure twice as many people see it as a targeted ad.

All social media seems to be suppressing content with links these days. Their view is that if you want reach, then pay them for ads instead. They see it as leaving money on the table for them by allowing people to use their platforms for free and have huge reach they can use to sell to ad companies. So instead they have limited reach, even for those who have millions of followers, and told ad companies to pay them instead.
