Spider-Ham feels awful to play against

Just annoying as hell. The reward you get for a 1-cost card that can be replayed multiple times in one game is waaay to high. I’m seeing him more and more and I have games where multiple cards in my hands are pigs, my win conditions get totally removed from play, and I’m left with nothing I can do.

I’ve been getting into destroy lately but losing my Knull, Arnim Zola, Magik, Shuri, to a 1-cost that can be bounced and used again, it feels horrible and it seems like there’s really not much counter play to it.

Maybe it’s just me but it’s one of those cards that can really feel unfair and for me is absolutely not fun to play against.

EDIT: wow this blew up. I guess I should clarify a couple things. For me losing =/= not fun. Most games I enjoy the match even if I get my butt kicked, I just queue up and try again. But Ham is one of those cards that feels super cheap to get hit with.

Iceman and Yondu are not the same, Iceman doesn’t give you intel and doesn’t target the strongest card in their hand. Yondu gives you intel but at least thins their deck and they know what they won’t be drawing, and it doesn’t directly target.

Ham, for a 1 cost, directly targets, gives intel, and ruins a lot of high-cost cards. And if you bounce it and they have multiple high cost cards in their hand it can ruin all of them. Some people asked how you get multiple pigs, I’ve had some games where my highest card was 4, then 5, etc…so that’s how you end up with multiple pig hands. And yeah you can Killmonger or Electra but if it’s tossed out even once it can wreck their strategy (Apoc, Knull, Zola, Dino, etc).. that’s a ton of value for 1 energy

Spider Ham is my toxic trait

Didn’t have Spider Ham yesterday and felt like throwing my phone against the wall every time someone played him against me and it ruined my game in one fell swoop.

Today I do have Spider Ham, and I giggle every time I play him T1 and get a retreat straight away when it takes out their Wong/Odin/Heimdell/DD etc.

If Spider Ham reveals the card being altered the turn it's played, can we have that same effect when opponent plays Iron lad.

Edit: Yes, I understand you can click to reveal. Cheers.

TIL in 1983 Marvel Comics actually published a number of comics about a 'Spider-Pig' though his name was Peter Porker, your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Ham.

In Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse (2018), you can see an advert for "Hi Hello", starring Nick Kroll and John Mulaney. This is a reference to the comedy act the two have in real life. Mulaney also voices Spider-Ham.

Spider-Ham still slapping for me

Spider-Ham still slapping for me

So far the nerf to Spider-ham has actually given him more disruption than I expected. It probably depends on your rank collection level or rank but everyone has great on reveal and ongoing cards stacked in their deck, pigging any card with a great ability is still very clutch. I’ve pigged Shang-Chi, Brood, iron Lad, cerebro, Patriot, Iron man still lol, Apoc still lol, Dracula, wave, knull, Even Loki I’ve pigged. The variety of cards that Peter Porker can hit feels like a new card and even more disruptions, especially when playing those boosted brood decks. It still wins me games because they retreat after I hit their Shang or their brood or Loki. I’ve pigged a Loki and my opponent immediately retreated because they had collector on the board already. It’s came in clutch, also adds more fear than frustration for the opponent because they never know which card will get pigged in conquest.

Just saw how disappointed people were when they saw the nerf to Spider ham, wanted to let y’all know it hasn’t killed the card imo. In fact I like the card better now.

The secret counter to Spider-Ham

Is Agatha.

Think about it, she’s in your hand turn 1.

Her effect is turned off as soon as she’s Mrs. Piggied so she isn’t a detriment to your plans.

If she’s your only 6+ cost card she’ll always be targeted if they try to bounce Spider-Ham.

It was Agatha all along…
