Red Light-st 7"

Here is another crust band from Poland and i dont know not any shit about them, this ep came out on Malarie in 1998, in 1995 they released a split tape w Amen.
if you know anything about these dudes please fill the blank lines, there is no any info on the web and the few texts on cover are in polish (except the translation of lyrics in english). The record comes in fold out cover that becomes a poster (which is the back cover photo of Nausea's Lie cycle 7"). Music wise this is slow/mid paced doomy metallic crust a bit slower that what you 'd expect, they remind me of a dark Insuiciety version. There are three tracks, Jedna godzina is slow and ear tormenting, Slowa prawdy and Bezpieczenswo are mid paced yet sick and shitty, vocals are shouted and rough, lyrics are personal and pessimistic and aesthetically are close to artwork. There is not any marking on vinyl labels telling which side is A and B and this was a pain in the ass, the way the lyrics are printed makes things worse so i had to listen carefully the polish words(i don't understand any word in polish) and then i realized that i had to rename the songs and start all shit from the beginning.

Inkwizycja-Słowo 7"

This is Polish hardcore/crust at its finest: Inkwizycja were the legends of Polish punk scene, they were formed back in 1989 by U.O.M. members and they were the very first band from Poland that released a self - released record in 1991 (Na Własne Podobieństwo LP, with a little help from Nikt Nic Nie Wie Records). According to Hardcore Holocaust "One of their concerts was banned by the local bishop who got mad seeing posters for Inkwizycja and Amen concert in his town". They played about 400 gigs, a decade after Na Własne Podobieństwo they released Stare Fotografie (in Nikt Nic Nie Wie too).
Słowo was released in 1998 by Nikt Nic Nie Wie and consists of five tracks of crusty hardcore with heavy and emotional riffs, great leading guitar parts and nice bass lines. Tracks walk mostly in mid pace, 12:05 is a bit faster, the singer sings in Polish his verses (written in a really poetic way), there are some sheets with artwork (in the crust vein), lyrics texts, band's history and translation in English as well. The artwork is nice and it reminds me of Napalm Death's Mass appeal madness cover.
Thats the blurb. Due to some pressing problems the needle stuck between 12:05 and Stworcy and refused to play the next song so i had to "jump" that space: A few seconds of the later are missing and a few of the first should be erased :)

Silence/Burning the Prospect-split 7"

This is an amazing split with two bands delivering some blasting crust tunes, it came out in December 2006 in limited number of copies and it is sold out.
Silence from Poland continue the great tradition of Polish crust bands, they were born from the ashes of Antichrist, in 2003 they released Hypnosis 7'' and that was followed by a couple of 12" (Echoes of Depression,2004, Mad civilization,2005 and a split with Irish crusties Easpa Measa in 2007)
Burning the Prospect started in 2004 and their discog includes a couple of 7"(and splits) limited to 350-500 copies and No Great Design cd (2008,FETO Rec.s), check their myspace for more
This was released by a co-operation of labels: I Come For Your Children(USA), Acclaim Collective (Japan), Right to Refuse (UK) and Sadness of Noise and was limited to 550 copies (according to ICFYC there were only 400 copies). Silence bring two tracks of emotional crust in the vein of From Ashes Rise and Tragedy with thick guitars, dark melodies, hard beating rthythm section and powerful vocals. Bri of Doom did the studio work for Burning the Prospect and the result was a three track assault of heavy and gloomy crust with a touch of Swedish hardcore sound. Sound quality is excellent, lyrics included in the gate fold cover(there is English translation of Silence lyrics, copies for Japan included a sheet in Japanese language) and the usual crust tradition of misprinted track list is here: Paradise lost is the second track of BtP and New reign is the ending song.

Fact/Disgusting Lies - No One Complains (split 7")

Next one up is the Fact/Disgusting Lies split 7" from 1999 released on the japanese label MCR Company. In a word, straight up crust onslaught from Disgusting Lies teamed up with japanese weirdness from Fact - just what the doctor prescribed, hopefully, until my crustious host gets over his computer problems.

Disgusting Lies are one of the better known polish crust bands & have been in existence since 1992. I won't repeat their bio here, since a detailed version of it can be found at their website, together with a discography of the band. Their sound is, to my ears, akin to that particular polish brand of crust: easily recognizable as such, but heavier & more brutal than most crust releases that tattered my ears to pieces (I'm thinking Filth Of Mankind in a more '90s way - that is, without the atmosphere and much more quick-paced). Grindy vocals - thankfully they provide a lyric sheet - in combination with a drummer that is not to be believed - either he is a fan of czech grindcore or he's been listening to a lot of metal. Strangely addictive - I get the feeling that I'll be damaging my speakers if I ever play this in 45rpm, however.

Fact is a band I know absolutely nothing about, as I've listened to very little japanese HC in my life. If you know something about them, please feel invited to post a comment! The only thing I can say for sure is that their side of the cover killed me on the spot, as did the little english present on the lyric sheet. (What is "Endress war tears a drop" supposed to mean? "All the cursed enemies are kiked fuckin!!" is even better, in fact - a real gem, for reasons that have to do with the particular misspelling in it...) As I already said, this is japanese weirdness (full with guitar soloing) - definitely worth your time.

The packaging of this 7" is pretty standard, lyric sheet included; the only peculiarities are that the 7"'s title is only mentioned in the Disgusting Lies' side of the cover and that the record comes out of the left side of the jacket (or else Disgusting Lies got to be side A on the cover and side B on the actual 7").

Stuck on Ceiling-W prozni 7"

Stuck on Ceiling come from Poland and "W prozni" was released by Enigmatic Records in 1995.I don't know anything about these guys, Enigmatic exists no more so there is no any source about them.
It was around 2004-05 when Enigmatic was selling off the entire stock, the low prices along with some interesting records were the bait so a friend of mine made a great order (about 200 euros), he sent the money and waited. And waited, and waited.. and he' still waiting: He never recieved the record package, actually the package was never sent to him. The complaining e-mail he send to Enigmatic was never replied and soon after while Enigmatic 's website was hacked so there was no other way to come in touch with them. So the story ends with the guy from Enigmatic probably drinking some beers with my friend's money cheering up the sucker who lost it.
Back to Stuck on Ceiling: They play a mix crust and crossover with screaming vocals, they cover one Accused track and there's an insert with translation in english (they sing in polish). The production is good and the guitar dominates filling the speakers followed by many changes and fills of drum works and vocalists screams.

Homomilitia/Forca Macabra-split 7"

Homomilitia were a political hardcore/crust band with dual male female vocals from Poland. The band was formed in early 90's and released a couple of lp's and this split ep with Forca Macabra. The lady who sings here latter joined the ranks of doomy metallic crusties Lost.

Forca Macabra come from Brazil.. guh.. guh.. i mean they come from Finland. Formed in 1991, they have lyrics in Portuguese, their music is dedicated to the brazilian hardcore scene and they are still active and keep thrashing....
Homomilitia offer here two tracks of crusty hardcore with dual male vocals in "Ziema" and male/female in "Multinationals". Fast hardcore crust, aggressive vocals, politicals lyrics in polish and good sound production. Forca Macabra offer four tracks and i think this stuff comes from a demo recording. Gruff vocals, fast rhythms, noisy guitars, raw production and the familiar Brazilian touch of their hardcore. An insert is included with lyrics of both bands and translation in english for Homomilitia's texts . Released by Malarie Records, 1994

Lost-Thoughtless/bez zastanowicnia 7"

Lost come from Poland delivering heavy crust with metal influences. Fast to midpaced and sometimes slow rhythms, heavy and powerful guitar riffs with a darkfeeling, metal influences are here and there, nice work on drums with rhythm changes and screaming female vocals in polish and english. The sound production is good, the vocals handling is perfect, the cover artwork reflects the darkness of music. This was released by Malarie Records, Lost have also released the Fear Strach lp (see a detailed review here) witch is piece of apocalyptic crust even better that the ep. The lady who sings used to be in Homomilitia. I dont know if they are still active, its been a long time since they released the ep (1999 or 2000) and the full lenght (2001) and i haven't heard anything new of them

Filth of Mankind-Czas Konca Wieku 7"

This is dark and heavy metallic crust by some dudes who worship Amebix, Axegrinder and '80's metallic crust: Filth of Mankind come from Poland and Czas konca wieku 7" was released in 1999 by Pawel' s label Scream Records,here some shit from their site:
F.o.M.formed in early 1996 by: Maciek - vocals, Milosz - guitar, vocals, Pawel - guitar, Lazej - bass and Balon - drums. Some of us played also in a few other bands at that time: Money Drug, Stench Of Death, Noise Grass, Protest And Survive, etc. Forming F.O.M. we wanted to focus on the heavier and darker sound to illustrate the lyrics about subject as old and cliché as still urgent and annoying - such as politicians’ swindles, brutality of their thugs in uniforms, the madness of neverending consumption, poverty of the living as a cog in the capitalist machine or sick moral standards force fed since our birth and leading to lack of tolerance, respect or understanding any forms of diversity. Another important part of our lyrical content are visions of the apocalypse, towards which in our opinion, the humankind unavoidably goes. For such a verbal/musical approach we decided the best fitting name was the title of the Misery song - Filth Of Mankind (one of the other options was The Darkest Hour off the Amebix song - luckily we didn’t choose that, as there’s other band named D.H in the U.S.).So after a few months of writing the songs (and a summer holiday) we played our first show. Since that time we played in 10 or 11 countries, recorded a 7” EP and the full length album called “The Final Chapter” (available on CD/MC and soon to be out on vinyl too) and survived 10 years despite numerous line-up changes, periods of lack of the practice space, traveling around the globe, broken collarbone and other obstacles. Czas konca wieku delivers four tracks of heavy crust, the sound quality is excellent, songs vary from midpaced and slow to faster, guitars are thick and heavy and deliver metallic riffs, vocals are rough and lyrics deal with topics such as sexism, indifference, animal rights and alienation that leads to destruction of mankind.
