We're helping Australians to Drive Safer - here you can learn about some modern towing features now available in some vehicles
We talk a lot about modern vehicles and how much they've evolved, especially in a safety sense when you're towing. And this new Ford Ranger, a perfect example of it. Down here with this dial, you can slide that around to the tow haul mode, and that sets up all of the electronics, things like throttle sensitivity and steering, tweaks all of that to suit having a trailer on the back.
The other benefit is through the infotainment system you can go into a towing-specific page and it tells you whether you've got an active trailer connected to the tow ball. The other thing that it does, that I think is just genius is it runs you through a towing connection checklist. So, it ticks everything off. Is it connected properly? Are the safety chains on? Are the electrics set up correctly? Do all the lights work? All that simple stuff. And then of course, what you can do is add trailer profiles. So, say you've got a trailer with two jet skis on it, you've got a camper trailer and you've got a car trailer. You can add those trailer profiles here. You select whichever trailer you're using once it's set up. It makes everything incredibly easy. Most importantly, it makes everything incredibly safe.
