This Sunday is the Third Sunday Art Hop at Front Street. Art Hops are always a great time with live music, food trucks and the best art and artist Dayton has to offer!!

Art Encounters is a co-op gallery located at Front Street. There are 17 local artists who display and sell their artwork. You can find anything from jewelry and ceramics to traditional watercolors and vibrant mixed media pieces. Located in Building 100, Door B/C, Third Floor.

This is a great way to support local artists and support the Dayton community!

Anyone interested in a free website (in exchange for referral)?
Anyone interested in a free website (in exchange for referral)?

Hi folks! I am a newly-freelancer web developer looking to build my network as I grow my business! To that end, I was thinking of designing free websites for people in exchange for a referral!

I am coming from an agency background, so once we have the initial design hammered down, we can discuss some of the juicier stuff like custom apps, search engine optimization, and the like if you would be interested in taking it all the way!

My real specialty is in building funnels that get people to convert and keep buying from you, and building a sleek website/landing page is one of those key steps in that process.

But yeah, drop a comment if you need a new website or a revamp of an existing one! Looking forward to connecting!

City of Bellbrook recommends proactively conserving water amid dry weather. The water table has declined by four inches since June 3 of this year, according to Bellbrook. This is the lowest it has been since 2007.

Stray pit mix Keowee x Stanley
Stray pit mix Keowee x Stanley

Dark coloring, female. She was at the parking lot by Keowee and Stanley. She looks malnourished and nervous.

I tried to get her into my car, but she was afraid and I didn't want her to run into a busy street. Sadly I couldn't try more as I had my dog in my car already and we were going to be late to the vet.

If someone is missing her, that's where she is, if someone better equipped to catch her wants to help, please do.

Looking for the ideal wedding venue
Looking for the ideal wedding venue

Hello! My fiancé and I are getting married in about a year, and we don't know where we want to go for the reception and ceremony. She saw an add for a music-experience called "candlelight" (I don't know what else to call it) where some string-musicians play music in a room only lit by a whole bunch of candles, and she was super excited about the idea of having an entirely dark room, lit only by hundreds of candles. As she thought about it more, she thought that she would want like a rustic stone or brick walled room for this.

I guess that is fairly specific, but I don't know much about this sort of thing as I've not looked for wedding venues before. I don't even know what to type in the google-box..."Candlelit weddings, dayton ohio"?

I'm certainly open to ideas; please make some suggestions, and I'll be happy to look into it. I just want to make sure it looks like she wants it to =)

Thanks!

-Josiah

Jobs & Employment

Hello Reddit! Just kinda curious if anyone has any experiences with this company or may currently work there?

I’m interested in a career change & have a buddy who works there in one of the software dev departments. He’s willing to put in a referral for me but I’m hesitant that I’d actually land an entry level software dev position.

I’ve been in the restaurant industry for almost 10 years and need a change; coding has been an interest of mine & I actually moderate a local subreddit with 70k+ members; which has taught me a lot about YAML & RegEx.

I don’t have a degree & I attempted a coding bootcamp a few years ago but unfortunately had to drop it due to life circumstances.

My buddy gave me some Codecademy courses that he was given when he was hired & I’ve been working on those; currently playing around with JavaScript.

I guess I’m just writing this post to see if anyone may have some insight on the likelyhood that I’d have a realistic chance being hired into an entry level position here. It would be a huge opportunity for myself; I’m just self-doubting a bit & need some realistic outside perspectives from people who may have worked here.

Disgruntled Old Scratch employee taking customer numbers and prank calling them.
Disgruntled Old Scratch employee taking customer numbers and prank calling them.

Got a weird call tonight from someone claiming to be the GM of Old Scratch saying someone put dead hamsters and jizz in the sauce.

Dude went off the rails when he started asking me "are you Black? Are you a Republican?"

Gonna go out on a limb here and say it was a prank call--so if anyone gets a call like that...it's 99.9% chance this is some dumb disgruntled employee trying to hurt this business.

Kid started freaking out once I said "oh thanks, I'll have to make a report to the police, this number you're calling from is your personal cell?".

Gave the number to Old Scratch...so if dude is on here lurking and actually works there, GG's, you played yourself.

Attn: Anyone working on Carr drive in Brookville.

For months ive watched Perry Twp. and Clay Twp. police take advantage of anyone breaking any traffic offenses from the Westbrook/Diamond Mill road area up to the beginning of Brookville's jurisdiction.

Every single time ive seen them with a POC pulled over, they've searched their vehicles.

If you or someone you know works at Green Tokai, etc...tell them that the police in that area will absolutely take advantage of and profile you.

Know your rights, go the speed limit, and make sure your vehicle is legal af.

(I understand that this is quasi suburb information, but a lot of the folks working at those factories are from Dayton/Trotwood)
