Here's to our version of a 3 day off-site filled with relaxation and sharing advice on navigating our careers and families. 🌊 I love spending time with strong women that want to get better, push themselves and enjoy everything they have gained from their hard work. 💪Spending time with these two amazing women, Emily Poague and Tanya Staples, who I had the pleasure of working with at LinkedIn for many years was exactly what was needed. We built such a strong connection that even though we've moved on to different things, our friendship keeps getting stronger. One thing that really unites us is the desire of autonomy in our work. It's incredibly rewarding to be in control of your work and to see the direct results of your efforts and learn from successes and failures. Double standards like this can make it harder for LGBTQ+ women to feel like they can bring their full selves to work. According to our #WomenInTheWorkplace2023 data, 35% of LGBTQ+ women reported feeling the need to hide important aspects of their identity to fit in at work compared to 4% of non-LGBTQ+ women. This matters because women who don’t feel psychologically safe in their workplace are 4x more likely to almost always feel burned out and 3x more likely to think about leaving their companies. Through our #AllyshipAtWork program, employees are taught to acknowledge their privilege and influence in order to effect change. They can explore over 50 research-supported steps to serve as allies.
