You can check your spelling and grammar in Google Docs, then accept or ignore the corrections.
Before you use Duet AI
- Duet AI feature suggestions don’t represent Google’s views, and should not be attributed to Google.
- Don’t rely on Duet AI features as medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.
- Duet AI features may suggest inaccurate or inappropriate information. Your feedback makes Duet AI more helpful and safe.
- Enterprise end users can submit feedback to Workspace regarding their experience using generative AI features. End users are informed before submitting the feedback that feedback data should not contain personal, sensitive, or confidential information and may be read by humans.
Spelling and grammar suggestions are available in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Italian.
Check spelling & grammar
You can check your spelling and grammar, then accept or ignore the corrections.
- Open a document in Google Docs.
- In the top left, click Spelling and grammar check . A box will open in the top right corner.
- To use a suggestion, click Change.
- To ignore a suggestion, click Ignore.
- To accept or ignore all suggestions, click More Accept all or Ignore all.
If you have spelling and grammar suggestions turned on, misspelled words are underlined in red, and grammar suggestions are underlined in blue. Learn how to turn suggestions on or off.
To quickly accept or ignore the corrections:
- Press Tab to accept the suggestion.
- Right-click the red or blue underline.
- To accept the suggestion, click the edited word.
- To ignore the suggestion, click Ignore.
- To report an incorrect suggestion, click Feedback on suggestion.
You can add words to your personal dictionary so Docs doesn't identify them as misspelled.
- Open a document in Google Docs.
- At the top, go to Tools Spelling and grammar Personal dictionary.
- Enter a word.
- Click Add.
You can also add words to your personal dictionary after they’re marked as misspelled.
- Open a document in Google Docs.
- Right-click the word that's underlined in red.
- Click Add to personal dictionary.
Remove a word from your personal dictionary
You can remove a word that you've added to your personal dictionary.
- Open the document in Google Docs.
- At the top, go to Tools Spelling and grammar Personal dictionary.
- Find the word you want to remove.
- To the right of the word, click Delete .
