Hey guys quick question, from everything I’ve seen Alex is 21 in True Colors. Is there a reason she didn’t leave at 18? I’m just now replaying and it didn’t click with me and I haven’t found anything on that topic

I'm not exaggerating when I say that Alex might be my favorite protagonist of all time. I rarely relate to and empathize with a character so deeply. I wanted to give a shout out to Erika Mori's performance, which was fantastic. According to IMDB, this is her first credited role. That is absolutely astonishing to me because her performance felt effortlessly authentic. I hope that this was just the start of a long acting career for her because her talent is beyond impressive.

Secondly... the animators at Deck Nine did some incredible work in True Colors, and not just with the facial animations. I've never seen more realistic body language in a video game before. I don't know if it was mostly motion capture or what but it was seriously impressive. There was so much nuance in every character's performance and the stylized art direction kept the game from ever dipping into the uncanny valley.

I could gush endlessly but I'll leave it there. I just really wanted to shout from the rooftops about how much I love Alex and appreciate everything that went into bringing her (and the rest of the cast) to life.

PS: I really don't want to reduce her character to a single aspect but I do want to shout out the bi representation. It feels good to have a wonderful character like Alex to look up to.

Obviously this is my opinion, but I love her characterization. She's the most realized character in the franchise, which was the most refreshing part. Unlike all of the past LiS protagonists, Alex seems to know what she wants and who she is, but she still wants to find where she fits in Haven, which she does in the end. When I look at Max, to me, I find it really hard to relate to her. Sure, she questions her power, but she also abuses it to the point of no return as well. You can say it's the same for Sean too. For Alex though? Her being an extreme empath to help others instead of using brute force is what makes her an already interesting character.

The fact that we also find that Alex was aware of her powers since the beginning of the game is super refreshing too. And she questions her powers, whether it's her curse or not. It really complicates her character and her morale, and because of that, she can make decisions that goes against her power or not.

Not to mention, she's actually an extremely relatable character. She's not a typically shy or anxiety induced person, but she keeps her distance from people who she doesn't really know, and then quickly become comfortable. I don't know how many of us are willing to talk to strangers on the whim, but I could really relate Alex's awkwardness when she first talked to Gabe or Ryan. She also has a really good humor, even if she's a bit corny sometimes. Anyway, I've really been thinking a lot about her character, she's amazing to play as!
