I am thinking of purchasing a home in Alamogordo. I’ve seen a couple I like on the east side of Scenic Dr and north of Desert Foothills Park. I like being close to the mountains. Prices are reasonable enough but I am concerned about the dust from White Sands and other air quality issues.
I’d really like to hear your take on it if you live in Alamogordo or visit frequently. I’ve lived in Albuquerque, so I am familiar with high desert. Thank you!
My lady and I, recent transplants to Albuquerque, are considering a weekend trip to either Roswell or Alamogordo.
It seems like UFO kitsch vs White Sands. But I'm sure there's way more to both places.
I've looked around a bit online but wondered if you have opinions on which, things to see, eat, and do?
Thanks!
A subreddit for campers concerned more about the act of camping and less concerned about hiking long distances or light gear. Primarily for tent/hammock camping. No RV camping here.
I was just curious about the freight traffic on the tracks off US 54. I noticed very frequent traffic, intermodal mainly, headed north and south. My question is where are they headed and where did they come from?
High Air Pollution in Europe Caused Almost 400,000 Deaths in 2021
In 2021, a report from the European Environment Agency (EEA) revealed that nearly 400,000 deaths in Europe were linked to three major air pollutants.
These pollutants were fine particulate matter (PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and short-term ozone (O3) exposure. Among these, PM2.5 was responsible for the highest number of deaths, totaling 253,000.
It particularly affected individuals with heart diseases. NO2, which is most harmful to people with diabetes, resulted in 52,000 deaths, and short-term exposure to O3 caused 22,000 deaths.

The Alamogordo City Commission approved abortion opposition resolutions, declaring the city a sanctuary for the unborn on a 5 to 2 margin.
How come John Block was making comment to the Piñon Post on the petition outcomes BEFORE there was a public announcement?
How did Karl Melton, John Block’s partner, come to be appointed to the City Commission?
These questions imply either some outside agenda or a use of political office for personal/career gain. These were the initial signs with County Commissioner Griffin.
And now the mayor is being attacked.
This too: Why is John Block working so hard to continually denigrate the mayor, who, is of his own party? Is there some sort of grand design within the minds of some who are so very new to Alamogordo?
John Block was at the January 6 insurrection. Will we soon have an insurrectionist in the Roundhouse? Is this a good idea for the businesses of this area and for retention of our population, to include military to allow so much power to politicians who flagrantly demonstrate their negative influence upon this community?
John and Karl lived in the Santa Fe area during the January 6 event I understand. Then they both moved here afterward, and in just short months, Karl Melton was appointed to the City Commission, not elected, and put forth this controversial and divisive resolution to make Alamogordo a Sanctuary City for the Unborn.
John Block is currently running as State Representative District 51, who continues to campaign on his support of the resolution, while sadly using negative, ugly speech against anyone who does not support it. You can hear how harshly he denigrates the good citizens of this town during his City Commission Meeting speeches, which are recorded. Citizens are even told they are unwelcome here from someone who has just recently arrived.
Be careful Alamogordo.
