I’ve always heard that BD is associated with mild-moderate cognitive decline as you age with the disorder. I think I read somewhere that our swings and episodes will actually do brain damage, which causes this.
Looks good! I try to shoot for these basic steps: Cleanse, Tone, Serum, Moisturize. It looks like that’s pretty much what you have here.
I haven’t checked any of these prices, but I might suggest looking into some “cheaper” products. You’d be surprised at how good drug store skincare can be! Definitely spring for high-quality serums though.
I currently use coconut oil to remove makeup, cetaphil daily cleanser, Dickinson’s hydrating toner w/ rose water, Acure brightening serum (w vitamin C), and CeraVe face lotion (I’m addicted to this stuff).
Infrequently throughout the week I do
1 aztec clay mask
3 gua sha sessions
2 microneedling sessions with my DIY roller
2 or 3 dark honey & coffee exfoliating masks
Haven’t tried retinol yet! It’s expensive so I’m waiting til I’m a bit older and really need it lol
Agreed, my cleanser and moisturizer are inexpensive for sure so I can splurge on the actives, like serums. Thanks for the feedback!
Also not sure if you saw, but I edited to include some of the other random stuff I do if that helps!
I always suggest making a tea for first-timers. I personally hate the taste/texture of shrooms so I always go for either teas or smoothies.
You also don’t need to drink a full glass of lemon juice like some people do. Technically, you don’t even need lemons- any acidic drink would do. The tek just works by breaking down the chitin in the fungal cells, which makes the psilocybin absorb quicker and can help with nausea.
I just make a strong cup of black tea with a healthy squirt of lemon juice, a touch of honey, and then let my shrooms steep for ~15min. Some people eat them, but I just strain/squeeze them out and throw them away because again, I hate the taste lol
Not sure about lymphatic massage, but I usually do ~5 slow passes per area with my gua sha. I divide my face into roughly 16 areas (I didn’t realize it was so many until I counted just now lol), so it usually takes me around 10 min
It’s a complicated feeling, when you first get your diagnosis. On one hand there’s the dread of fighting a serious mental illness for the rest of your life, on there other there’s joy and vindication in finally knowing why you are the way you are. Everything makes so much more sense now.
Now you have the tools and resources to get better, and to be stable. Get yourself (or stick with) a good psychiatrist and a therapist you can be open with. It’s going to take a while to find the right balance for your meds, but don’t give up hope. It makes all the difference in the long run.
You can live a mostly normal life. You can still do everything you wanted to. You’ll just have more obstacles you need to overcome, but you can do it. Trust, listen to, and invest in your support system, they’re what will keep you grounded when you’re manic. And what will bring you up when you can’t get out of bed.
No need to spend more than $100 unless you’re planning on really ramping up your production. Go for a simple stovetop PC, and avoid aluminum. Stainless steel is where it’s at. A bit more expensive and harder to find ime, but worth it for the quality
