Asus ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO Mayhem Asus ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO Mayhem

Looks like I cannot figure this one out, hopefully someone can help me out. Thank you in advance.

Config:

CPU - i9-14900K

Motherboard - ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO

Memory - Crucial Pro DDR5 6000MHz UDIMM Memory Kit (2 x 24GB) connected on 2nd and 4th slot.

Storage 1 - Samsung 4TB 990 PRO connected to M.2_2

Storage 2 - Intel 660P 1 TB connected to M.2_3

Graphics - MSI 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X 24G

Problem: When I connect the graphics card on PCIEX16(G5)_1 and check in the bios I get only 4 lanes i.e. showing up as x4 and even in Windows when I run GPUZ it shows up as PCIe x16 4.0 @ x4. I have Fedora running on Intel SSD and when I check there I see the same results. I resetted the BIOS, cleared CMOS and same results.

When I connect the GPU in PCIEX16(G5)_2 I get 8 lanes i.e. x8 in BIOS and same results in OS too.

So far I have tried resetting the BIOS, clearing CMOS, flashing the BIOS again (I am on latest), removing everything connected on motherboard apart from power and cooler and it somehow shows the same exact results in the first PCIe slot. I called up ASUS and they have escalated it however I hardly doubt they will have any answers and just say to RMA the board which I cannot because I bought this from US and I live in India and the warranty is apparently "local" and the will not adhere that here.

This is my first Asus board and was using Gigabyte previously with my 9900K and 11900K and never had these issues.

I plugged this GPU in my brother's system running Asrock B650 and 7800x3d and this card works just fine there.

What can I do in this case? I am leaning towards replacing the board altogether but that's almost $500 going down the drain.

Help
Mumbai should be ~17 ms

Hi All,

So I live near Mumbai and my usual ping is near ~15 to 20 ms for Valorant but since 2 days, it has jumped to 75 .

My LAN/Wifi connection is good only. I have tried using hotspot but still the ping is stuck at ~75 (Usually for hotspot it shows around 40)

I have tried many things , even reinstalled Valorant but issue is still there .

I dont know how to fix it.

CAN ANYONE HELP? IS IT EVEN FIXABLE?

Any good service centre for Asus in delhi Any good service centre for Asus in delhi
Help

Hey guys, I called the Asus service at home (the laptop is under warranty), and the technician changed the thermal paste as I requested. However, now my laptop is vibrating and making some noises (not fan noise) when I am playing games. When idle or surfing the net, it doesn't vibrate or make any noise. The CPU temperature has gone down, but the GPU temperature is reaching 90°C, whereas previously it was at 75°C since it was not clean. When I asked the technician to come again to check, he denied it and said it would get better after some time, so I don't have to worry. He said it would take time to settle. But nothing has happened, and after two days, I called another technician. The same problem persisted. He changed the thermal paste and cleaned the laptop again, but still the same problem. Then he told me I needed to change the fan. So, I am thinking of going directly to the service center instead of calling home service. Any recommendations on where to go? The model is Asus TUF15 i7 12th gen and 4060
