How to remove "Sponsored Content" Ads from your Amazon Echo Show.

I have an Echo Show 8 and it took me awhile to figure this out on my own. On your Echo Show, go to "Settings" and scroll down and press "Alexa Privacy". You may have to do a verification process to verify your Amazon account and that it's actually you. After that look at the "Overview" section, mine was to the left of the screen. Press "Manage skill permissions and Ad preferences". After that, scroll all the way down to the bottom and turn off "Receive interest-based ads from third-party skills and content providers on Alexa". Amazon tried hard to hide this setting......

Alexa just doesnt want to listen anymore? Amazon Echo Show 5

Recently i noticed my Alexa wasnt listening to me anymore, i figured maybe the mic might be blocked with dust or soemthing. I had bought the new echo show 2 so i replaced it with that, thinking it would help but its the same issue. Nothing is drowning the sound and im standing right over it repeating myself "alexa, alexa, alexa." Not sure if its just me, this was never a problem before

Spotify lag on amazon echo show 8?

Hey all,

I've been having an issue for about 5 months now where my spotify music playback suddenly lags (playback stutters about twice in the middle of the song). I've tried different networks, I've tried turning it off and on, disabling/re-enabling the skill, and so on. I'm confused because netflix and all other streaming works fine without lag, but spotify is somehow the service that lags. Anybody run into this issue? And have figured something out?

Edit : ran speedtest, got around 12.20 Mbps.. so I don't think internet speed is the issue

Thanks

Amazon Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) Spotify alarm help

I just bought a Amazon Echo Show 5 since it was on sale at Best Buy. I tried using a vocal command to set an alarm to play a song from Spotify, and it will play the song I requested BUT anytime the Spotify alarm goes off (regardless of it being the initial set alarm or a secondary snoozed alarm), it will BEEP. EVERY TIME. Just one distinct, conspicuous, audible, annoying beep- the same beep you hear when you change the volume on the clock, except I'm not manually changing the volume or have a routine that changes it and I have the gradual increase alarm setting off.

I thought a software update would help, but the beep persisted even still. Also tried deleting the alarm and recreating it, but that didn't fix it either. Even tried changing the song just to see if that would make a difference, but NOPE.

Does this happen to anyone else??? Is this by design???

Amazon Echo Show v Google Nest Hub with Iphone

Simple question. I am wondering if there is a better option to use with an iPhone for synchronization sake, such as calendars, pictures and reminders. Would the Amazon Echo Show be a better option or the Google Next Hub (not the current max version for google but the first one). Thanks

Amazon Echo Show screen black with orange numbers/text?

Ok, I can't seem to find anything about this and it's annoying me. What mode causes the Echo Show's screen to swap to a black and orange display? It just randomly happens and will change back also at random. We can't figure out what's causing it or why. Any help would be appreciated. Even just the name of the setting if it is one.

Echo Show 5 Stops Responding to Voice

I've run into a weird issue with my Echo Show 5 that I'm hoping someone might have some ideas on. Within an hour of being powered on, it just completely stops responding to voice commands, including the wake word.

Everything else works, alarms, notifications, reminders all go off as usual, and music that's playing will keep going long after it stops responding to voice.

Unplugging it and plugging it back in gets it working again for a little while, but it inevitably stops responding.

I've factory reset it, and still the problem persists. I've made sure it's not obvious stuff like the mic being turned off. One slightly odd thing was I tried an experiment by setting an alarm and continuously snoozing it with voice commands, and it was still responding a good two hours later, but about half an hour after I stopped the experiment, it was once again deaf to my voice.

I've had the Echo for 3 years now, and never had any issues with it, so if anyone knows what might be going on, help would be greatly appreciated.

Echo Show Is Just A Billboard Ad Machine Now

I have a few echo show 5s and within the last week or so they have become an incessant ad source. I have everything content-wise unchecked as a feature now, all they otherwise function as would be a fancy clock. I guess I should've known this is what it would eventually come to, but they are advertising what to try next, different amazon buys like cheese crackers, games, and a ton of other crap. Thumbing down, giving feedback, none of that works, another ad just pops up within minutes. Besides being able to add them to a routine to be able to display our cameras, they're beyond irritating now. Please tellme there's a magic solution to shutting down the ads, or should I just consider unplugging them once and for all?

Amazon missed the mark with the echo show

I have seen one or two other posts complaining about this too but no solutions: you can’t have chores lists for kids that can be marked off. Yes, you can do verbal lists and all that with the echo dot, but not being able to display calendars and recurring lists (chore lists) for kids is a huge deal breaker. It can do “to do” lists but they aren’t recurring. I can’t find any software/skills that could do this.

This seems like a huge fail for a “home automation” hub. There has to be a way we just haven’t found yet. Does anyone have a solution?

More Ads on Echo Show

I'm really getting sick of all the ads on my Amazon Echo Show. I have all the settings turned off so I should only see my rotating personal collection of photos, but today I saw an ad for "The Family Business" on BET plus. When I've contacted Amazon in the past, they said the ad was from the app provider who was sending it out and they couldn't control it, but this ad clearly said sponsored and was for service I don't have. It's so frustrating, I didn't pay for "echo show with ads." Every time I see one, I use the app to send feedback complaining but they always have excuses.

Threw Away my Echo Show today because it wouldn’t stop showing ads.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get it to stop showing me ads. I just wanted it to show me the time and the weather but they kept turning on suggestions and stuff to try or the one that pushed me over the edge: a sponsored message from Jeopardy.

I went into the settings multiple times over the last few years to turn everything off. I went in again today to turn off the ads and I found it’s not an option. Even with literally every setting (even weather) turned off (so in theory it could just tell me the time), the Jeopardy ad stayed.

Any recommendations for a fun clock that will show me the weather without ads?
