Altria

I’ve been seeing TTB around Virginia for years at various venues—Lockn (3x), Wolf Trap, Richmond Raceway/VACU (2x) and Altria Theater (2x). The crowd tends to lean older at venues with seats and I’ve always noticed a portion of the crowd sitting through the show. But last night at Altria was something else.

I decided to splurge on orchestra level tickets, after going to many concerts at Altria in the balconies and watching the folks on the floor have all the fun. But when we got there, barely anyone was standing and five minutes into my experience, between songs, a man nearby starting screaming “SIT THE FUCK DOWN.” There was a disruption, perhaps the person was removed, I’m not sure. But the rest of the show, people all around us loudly complained about people standing, went out of their way to ask people enjoying themselves to sit down, and at one point the man behind us was also yelling at people to “sit the fuck down!”

It really killed the vibe for my concert group and we stood for maybe three songs total. It wasn’t worth it to be cussed at by all the angry fans and I truly don’t know who is the asshole in this situation—the people standing or the people asking fans not to stand?

In my 12 years of concert-going, I’ve never experienced anything like it at any show. We’re heading back for night #2 and I’ve never been less excited to see TTB :( I don’t plan on returning to Altria Theater for future shows due to the type of crowd it attracts.

Went with my mom to see Chelsea Handler’s show tonight, and about 15 minutes into her set, protestors started standing up every few minutes screaming to free Gaza. As if Chelsea Handler has ANY control of that.

We left 10 minutes after the first protestor. There were about 5 protestors we saw before we left. People were standing and screaming, and it just felt dangerous. I feel so bad for Chelsea. I bet she’ll never come back.

Anyone else there tonight know if the show continued? More protestors?

Since Altria invests in a Cannabis company, do they still test for THC during interview process? (Sales Manager position specifically)

Altria (MO) is one of the most popular high-yield stocks, with a fantastic record of dividend payment and growing. But smoking is becoming each year something of the past, the new generations smoke less and less and have healthier habits. If you own the stock, are you planning selling it in the next few years/decades?

As I was leaving for work I just noticed MO up 4%. This is not the sort of stock that usually jumps like that. I didn't see any news that would explain it.

What do you guys think about MO. Is the high dividend yield sustainable in the long-term? Im trying to diversify my portfolio into safe and growing dividend stocks so i can buy back my time. Thank you guys for keeping me on track with my goals.

Head on over to live music archive and in between Fall In and I am the Moon you can clearly hear him over the band heckling people and making threatening remarks to people who are standing….Night 2 was amazing totally different crowd everybody was up dancing having fun from the Pitt all the way to the top of balcony people we’re grooving!!!!!

Im currently in the process of diversifying my portfolio, and have stumbled upon Altria.

As far as i can see their dividend payouts seem quite consistent, and they have according to the research ive done, never cut their dividends. However the very high dividend yield of above 8% gets me worried that i am missing something, and may be getting myself into a value trap.

Therefore id like to hear your opinions.

Seems like it’s best days are behind it. People aren’t smoking like they used too. Is this falling closer to a trap by the day?

Is anyone concerned about the sustainability of the dividend? What is everyone’s thoughts? I am trying to figure out if it’s sustainable or not. The dividend payment just seems real high and a bit off.

I could swear I just heard on the news his lawyer saying self defense, not an exact quote but he said something like "it's not about who finished the fight but who brought the fight". Anyone who would know, how likely would a defense like this potentially exonerate someone who did a mass shooting in broad daylight like this?

$2 Billion of its stake to be returned to Altria shareholders. Taken from today’s WSJ. Good news to shareholders, I just want to be perfectly honest that I was a little surprised finding this out because I had no idea it held 10% of the beer company. So much for my DD

2 bust outs (Im Gonna Be There and Come See About Me) and a debut of Caravan!!!!! the bands energy was so amazing and it was also a really nice crowd. everyone was so friendly and there were so many people in my section standing and dancing with me and singing along with the songs! definitely a night to remember!

Interested in hearing people’s thoughts on high dividend yielding Altria. I’m deciding between it and SCHD. I love SCHD and am leaning it that direction right now but the potential profitability of Altria moving forward is intriguing.

I just started my research on the company today so bear with me, just looking for other investors thoughts.

Ordinary or Qualified ?

Does anyone here know if Altria pays out qualified dividends or ordinary.

I would love to know this information so I can either invest in MO in my roth ira or my regular taxable. If MO does NOT pay qualified i would place it on my roth, but if it DOES pay qualified then there’s no to place it in tax break account since it already has a tax break.

I have a little over 41 shares of MO, at an overall investment of $1,822.37. I was curious as to what this group thinks:

1. Of the long term viability of the company with the Juul nonsense and the smoking rate decreasing.

2. Do we think that the current dividend payout will hold long term.

*I just started dividend investing in 2020, so I wanted some other input.

Went last night. What a fantastic touring production of an amazing musical! Highly recommended. We had good seats in the orchestra... worth it for the leg room. Seems like the tour of the show made no compromises in quality of the production as it looks just like the Broadway show. GO!
