I was very excited to see that Ash and Alaina were covering Albert Fish, as it's a very interesting (albeit gruesome) case that not a lot of people have covered extensively. It's not a pretty tale, and I understand that it's difficult to talk about, but I'm finding the episodes exhausting to listen to with the constant disclaimers. Just non-stop talk about how horrible the subject matter is before we actually get into the story at hand. Alaina's 3-part deep dives are my favorite features, but I've found myself very frustrated and just "get to the point already" with this one.
Not trying to be insensitive here of course, but it's true crime. It's Albert Fish. I'm just disappointed because I feel like I'm listening to two people do something they're forced to do. Anyone else feel this way? Not trying to bash here, I usually really enjoy the podcast.

DO NOT let your morbid curiosity get the best of you with this one— do not google those letters, still scrubbing my brain!!
I’m listening to the podcast. When Simon got to the part where he said ‘Mrs Fish’ I went ‘wait what?’ Just as factboi said it too. Good to know we’re so in sync lol
Honestly I kind of put off listening to it because I know how sick Fish was. I might actually have to take a break. It took me three tries to listen to the Pedro Lopez episode. The cases with kids are just awful

Am I alone in thinking that 4 parts of Albert Fish was unnecessary and redundant? We get it.. obviously what he did was awful but they went so much out of the way to not give details that I couldn’t even keep up with the storyline they just gave hours of unnecessary filler. Like if the case is truly to much for you to handle.. don’t cover it. I literally gathered nothing from the 4 hours except that he was gray, was a cannibal, and killed three kids.

So on the main sub, I've seen multiple comments about the fact that while Morbid had been on the decline for a while, the quality fell off of a cliff after the Albert Fish episodes.
And sure, they'd been bad podcasters forever: poor research, late and missing episodes, scamming patrons, not taking criticism, etc but things really did seem to rapidly get worse after AF and I thought it might be worth talking about.
Pre-AF there would be too many LTs and some spooky content here and there, but it was mainly true crime, after it we started to see more and more spooky episodes and Alaina in particular seemed done with the podcast. During AF Alaina kept saying over and over that she was only doing AF because people kept asking for it: we don't believe that's the case, but I'm wondering if Alaina believes it.
My guess for this sudden change is that Alaina got her feelings hurt when the majority of listeners didn't like the four parts that she had "worked so hard on" and "just did for us" and decided that she wasn't going to try anymore and that the majority of listeners are trolls and don't appreciate her. Those episodes spawned so many posts on both subs and caused a lot of people who were big fans to start questioning the pod. We've noticed that A+A don't really seem to care about the pod at all now and are more interested in phoning it in than doing any actual work.
I'm wondering if they saw that their "hard work" wasn't appreciated and decided fuck the listeners, they're just going to do what's easy. Because they've always been block-happy, confrontational, and poor at communicating changes, but these days it doesn't seem like they want to interact with their fans at all. I don't know, I just have been thinking about this recently. What do you guys think?

So I've been reading all the posts and comments, and I noticed that so many of y'all feel how I do; that Morbid's content has been off and the episodes have been falling in quality of said content.
When they did the long everlasting episodes about Albert Fish, Alaina constantly at the end of each part said how they weren't gonna do anything dark and were just dreary and grossed out basically about the whole thing.
I see now that she meant that, because since then the episodes have been Listener Tales, spooky stories, the terrible & now infamous Katy Hawelka story and the Leith Von Stein ep that was very lackluster.
I really love Morbid with all my heart and I hope they can get back on their A-game, especially with the constant illnesses and weird schedule. I have been listening since the start and will keep listening on no matter what, I just hope for a return to form. In the meantime, True Crime Society has been an amazing fill-in and less scripted feeling for sure.

I went through all of part one thinking they were saying “Gray Spud” not “Grace Budd” and was googling furiously trying to figure out what the heck they were talking about until I had this EPIPHANY
That is all

I’ve been wanting to see a Casual Criminalist on Albert Fish for ages. He’s an interesting character. But conflicting with that is the knowledge that it would do damage to fact boi lol

Hi y'all! I am a grad student and work for a university. This gives me access to newspaper databases that are behind a paywall for most people. Is anyone interested in me finding a few about Fish and posting them here? I figured some people would be interested in it but might not have access to the databases.

Hold onto your butts, this is going to be a weird one. This one has stuck with me ever since I read about it like ten years ago on the old Crime Library website.
