Our GD is hilarious

[–]BestGirlTrucy 1558 points1559 points  (23 children)

Newcastle looking up at you, confused

[–]D1794 508 points509 points  (2 children)

[–][deleted] 354 points355 points  (1 child)

I thought this was going to take me to the Wikipedia page for the state of Saudi Arabia.

[–]Gadjjet 715 points716 points  (6 children)

Newcastle have a higher GD than we have goals.

[–]Rosfield-4104 138 points139 points  (4 children)

Okay, what the fuck. That's actually insane. Just checked and only the bottom 5 have scored less goals than you

[–]Black_XistenZ 60 points61 points  (0 children)

And the bottom 3 this year are dreadful beyond words...

[–]FFINN 442 points443 points  (8 children)

Haaland = 13 PL goals. Utd also = 13 PL goals.

[–]EpiDeMic522 369 points370 points  (0 children)

No wonder people are calling him washed.

[–]JosephStarling 140 points141 points  (0 children)

With a goals per game of 1.08 lol

[–]bamboo37 130 points131 points  (1 child)

I hope we pull a 1992 Norwich (finish top 3 with negative gd)

[–]Potato271 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Last week we (Southampton) were in fourth place in the Championship with a negative goal difference. (Since we got battered a few times, and almost all our wins were 2-1 or 1-0). We've since gone positive but our GD is still a lot worse than most teams around us

[–]LollipopScientist 135 points136 points  (15 children)

Imagine we win the league with negative goal difference.

[–]Black_Waltz3 247 points248 points  (5 children)

IIRC Everton secured top 4 with two games to go in 2005. They lost 7-0 in their next game and finished the season with a negative goal difference.

[–]PangolinMandolin 112 points113 points  (4 children)

18W 7D 13L 61 pts

GF45 GA46 GD-1

Man U finished 3rd with 77pts and GD32

Liverpool finished 5th with 58pts and GD11

[–]lolzidop 44 points45 points  (3 children)

And the year prior, Liverpool finished 4th with 60 points, quite possibly the 2 worst performances for a Top 4 finish, in the PL era at minimum.

[–][deleted] 89 points90 points  (6 children)

And all of our goals are added time penalties from Bruno

[–]Johnnysu123 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Imagine actually getting a penalty in our favor.

[–]hikingbeginner 2152 points2153 points  (34 children)

City vs Liverpool and Tottenham vs Villa in two weeks. 👀

[–]RawFishHeader 628 points629 points  (16 children)

And neither of them are evening games...

[–]sipmykoolaidbitch 248 points249 points  (0 children)

It’s ridiculous

[–]andrewejc362 217 points218 points  (1 child)

Of course not, one is Liverpool after an international break.

[–]amgartsh 371 points372 points  (11 children)

Great matchweek for us, hopefully we've got a few back from injury by then.

[–]Riperonis 212 points213 points  (7 children)

Brentford away won’t be a walk in the park but we have to capitalise

[–]tahoehockeyfreak 80 points81 points  (4 children)

Ramsdale is going to play too. Hopefully he gets a game for England to get sharp.

[–]Pamplemouse04 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Oh shit I forgot about the fact he can’t play against brentford. Looking forward to seeing Rammers back in the league

[–]muzzydon2 3111 points3112 points  (77 children)

Chelsea scored 8 goals against spurs and City wtf

[–]MH18Foot 1154 points1155 points  (71 children)

Still 10th tho

[–]malushanks95 892 points893 points  (21 children)

Clearly not midtable

[–]lewis30491 1072 points1073 points  (12 children)

4 wins, 4 draws, 4 loses. Exactly at the middle of the table. We're Thanos favourite child

[–]Zizouh 205 points206 points  (2 children)

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

[–]simoniousmonk 66 points67 points  (1 child)

Better than the top half, worse than the bottom. Balance.

[–]brain-juice 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Top half innit

[–]EpiDeMic522 73 points74 points  (6 children)

Not linking the thread is blasphemy.

But there's someone else other than Chelsea that catches my eye. For all the hype that was surrounding Spurs, I was expecting them to be 9 points clear. And they seem to be heading into a difficult run of fixtures.

Now I'm confused. CMIIW but didn't Mourinho have them as winter champions? There was hardly this amount of chatter back then.

[–]VegetarianCannibal_ 241 points242 points  (48 children)

mate its 5 points between us. this is supposed to our horror run of fixtures.

[–]Yedin07 443 points444 points  (24 children)

Anyone that watched ur games would knew that you would get points against the top teams. The horror run will be after this, when u play Everton, Sheffield, Wolves, Palace, Luton and Fulham. See how u breakdown the low block

[–]roadmans_ 76 points77 points  (2 children)

So accurate, crazy that we have higher expectations playing top teams

[–]VegetarianCannibal_ 142 points143 points  (19 children)

Nkunku will be back so should be better.

[–]mebbyyy 86 points87 points  (18 children)

It's also 5 points between man united and the top 4, and everyone is still shitting on them as well constantly tho

[–]Jaynator11 43 points44 points  (0 children)

10 against those 2 + Arsenal

[–]SrJeromaeee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In 3 games against City, Spurs and Arsenal, Chelsea scored 10.

In their most recent 3 games against bottom half opposition (Burnley, Bournemouth, and Nottingham forest), they scored 5. 4 at Burnley and 1 at forest.

Don’t know what to make of this team atm. As hot and cold as it goes.

[–]Itchy-Buyer-8359 739 points740 points  (43 children)

Considering all the noise I've been hearing about United, I'm surprised that they're that far up the table. Was expecting Brighton and Newcastle to be above them.

[–]Mubar06 387 points388 points  (8 children)

Brighton have been average for a month

[–]OldManBrom 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Worse than average. They gained 4 points in the last 6 matches. 0W 4D 2L.

[–]ErnieBLegal 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Our GD and our position kind of say that both are true. We’ve stabilized a bit in the league in change of tactics, CB pairing and run of easier fixtures but we’re still shit tbh.

[–]patil-triplet 238 points239 points  (9 children)

United’s fortunes are always exaggerated by basically every bit of football media looking for clicks. When things are going well it’s not as good as the puff pieces make it out to be and when things are shit, they’re not quite as shit as you’d think they’d be.

We’ve been better in the PL about not leaking goals by the bunch and there’s enough individual quality in our side that we’ll find a goal or two against the sides we should be beating. December’s fixture list has more mid table/top half sides, so I’m curious to see where we are by the New Year

[–]silwer55 882 points883 points  (18 children)

Aston Villa casually 3 points off top.

[–]quooooon 397 points398 points  (1 child)

Unai Emery is not to be fucked with

[–]fullthrottle13 62 points63 points  (2 children)

That Spurs Villa fixture will be squeaky bum time. I’m genuinely nervous as hell. We are decimated and Villa looks phenomenal.

[–]Jinks87 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Both teams play suicidal high lines. I expect chaos

[–]Comments_In_Acronyms 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The entire game will be played in a strip of the pitch 10 yards either side of the halfway line.

[–]brianstormIRL 123 points124 points  (6 children)

Ange MOTM 3 months in a row while Unai just casually takes a team from a relegation fight to 3 points off the top while facing a bunch of injuries.

[–]HotPotatoWithCheese 63 points64 points  (3 children)

Yeah but Unai doesn't have funny straya accent and doesn't say "mate" a lot.

[–]Robcrook101 144 points145 points  (3 children)

Threw away 3 points against forest too

[–]yajtraus 146 points147 points  (2 children)

Wouldn’t say they threw it away, they got outplayed and beaten fair and square. It’s not like they were winning and lost from their own mistakes.

[–]Beggatron14 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree, we had our chances and we were sloppy, it was a bad day at the office and forest were great! Totally deserved, fair play to them

[–]Cino0987 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Villa fan, agree. They knew what they were at and deserved their victory.

[–]FireZeLazer 803 points804 points  (23 children)

Villa have City, Arsenal, and Spurs in 3 of their next 4 matches. Real opportunity for them to establish themselves

[–]eaeb4 386 points387 points  (8 children)

Our games against Bournemouth and a depleted Spurs are away and our performances away have been dreadful. City and Arsenal three days apart both at home; I’d be very surprised if our home winning streak in the league is still in tact after those next games!

Huge test this next month.

[–]robinthebank 107 points108 points  (0 children)

So much logic in this. It’s refreshing.

[–]biskutgoreng 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I'd be very annoyed if you beat us but not the other two

[–]Hech15 107 points108 points  (0 children)

This can go really South like behind Manchester United south

[–]deep639 1395 points1396 points  (27 children)

The epl with their big brain scheduling 1st vs 2nd at 1230 pm on a Saturday after an international break.

[–]MatK0506 855 points856 points  (19 children)

It's not the PL this time tbh.

It's the stupid Manchester Police that didn't allow the game to be at 1730

[–]willy-mammoth 527 points528 points  (15 children)

GMP would disband before they’d let a derby kick off past 12:30, they treat Bolton Wigan games like an Israel/ Iran match

[–]CYWON 148 points149 points  (9 children)

I mean considering English fans are no longer the "problem fans" that they once were, it's interesting to see such a heavy hand.

[–]OkAttempt4752 126 points127 points  (1 child)

I mean from a different perspective isn't that just proof that those measures are working?

[–]I_am_zlatan1069 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Probably a good excuse to get some overtime in whilst the fans are least likely to cause problems.

[–]JoJo797 26 points27 points  (2 children)

A derby isn't a proper derby if it's allowed a late kick off

[–][deleted] 1048 points1049 points  (45 children)

This title challenge season is exciting.

[–]SurreptitiousNoun 590 points591 points  (8 children)

Been a while. Wish it was always like this

[–][deleted] 537 points538 points  (7 children)

Hope you guys do your part. We need to slow down city as much as possible, before that gandalf kevin comes back.

[–]Deep_Departure_5088 468 points469 points  (4 children)

No problem. We will beat City and then go on and lose to Sheffield, or anyone from the relegation zone

[–]step11234 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I know what you are saying, but we almost never beat city at the Etihad. Draw most likely imo

[–]Npr31 65 points66 points  (0 children)

It’s funny cause it’s true … i’m off to have a little pre-emptive cry

[–]Alphabunsquad 155 points156 points  (2 children)

Don’t get too excited. It was exciting two seasons ago for awhile too. Still plenty of time to become a one/two horse race.

[–]Keanu990321 40 points41 points  (2 children)

See Aston Villa winning it because... why not?

[–]lordkeith 170 points171 points  (17 children)

City are heavy favourites though. They'll win out

[–]PlentyPirate 167 points168 points  (15 children)

We’ll lose by a point and the difference will be that Spurs game

[–]Morsrael 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Again

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

All of r/gunners felt a chill down the spines. Unsettle.

[–]wjdbfifj 278 points279 points  (0 children)

Chelsea with 40% of their goals scored in the last 2 games wtf

[–]Hech15 186 points187 points  (1 child)

You have to click on the image to see Chelsea but atleast they are in the image

[–]hqdhftw 77 points78 points  (0 children)

They just did us huge favors this week tho haha

[–]PotatoMan19399 1285 points1286 points  (80 children)

Tottenham from 1 to 4 in a week damn

[–]robins420 423 points424 points  (5 children)

6 days to be exact

[–]Aele1410 124 points125 points  (4 children)

More like 6 minutes. They’d be back at first if they didn’t collapse to wolves.

[–]ghostrider467 273 points274 points  (3 children)

look at the top 5 lol all within 3 points, chelsea making it interesting at the top, without them being in it hehe

[–]sickoplato 65 points66 points  (0 children)

We always put our hand in the gauntlet run. Whether we are part of the race v or not. It's inevitable

[–]Afraid_Presence3803 553 points554 points  (38 children)

What Eric Dier does to a mf

[–]EnriqueMuller 311 points312 points  (21 children)

Incredible that Eric Dier got himself sent off twice against Chelsea

[–]BumbotheCleric 766 points767 points  (37 children)

When did Aston Villa get on 25 points fucking hell

[–]sandbag-1 783 points784 points  (18 children)

Cos they win literally every home game ever

[–]Kingslayer1526 177 points178 points  (15 children)

I mean that's the same recipe Liverpool is using every game this season and somehow they are 1 point behind City despite doing jack shit away from home so I do desperately hope we decide to show up in the next away game because it's about damn time

[–]No-Pension-7977 207 points208 points  (12 children)

We won against Wolves and Newcastle, drew against Chelsea, Brighton and Luton and lost against Spurs. Outside of the Luton result which was terrible, those arent really bad. Especially if you mind the Diaz goal against Spurs

[–]conceptalbum 94 points95 points  (3 children)

Feyenoord definitely didn't do that?

[–]Mrpaperbackwriter 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ajax was keeping them sane. With them gone, Feyenoord supporters will descend into madness.

[–]matcht 40 points41 points  (1 child)

Liverpool beat Wolves and Newcastle away which is very tough.

[–]EncryptedMyst 220 points221 points  (6 children)

Shhh we're trying to stay under the radar

[–]Adammmmski 127 points128 points  (5 children)

Hey everyone look at how good Emery ball is. Someone come and take their manager away.

[–]alpe_swole_tbc 33 points34 points  (4 children)

How many clubs are bigger than Villa, have a relatively good project, and need a manager right now? Can't see Emery going anywhere tbh

[–]No-Village-6781 94 points95 points  (2 children)

Besides, Emery is always at his best when he is at a team with "Villa" in their name. SeVilla, Villareal, and now Aston Villa.

[–]sabdotzed 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Looks like his next stop will be Pelsall Villa FC then

[–]hqdhftw 43 points44 points  (0 children)

When they won 8 and drew 1 of their games

[–]doubleoeck1234 224 points225 points  (18 children)

Whyyyyy do we have to play City at 12:30

[–]Herofactory45 21 points22 points  (0 children)

And to add insult to injury it's at the Etihad

[–]micoud04 638 points639 points  (46 children)

Liverpool best defensive record 🤔

[–]_cumblast_ 889 points890 points  (8 children)

Van Dijk got his aura back i'm afraid

[–]vadapaav 420 points421 points  (4 children)

Reports of our demise has been greatly outdated

[–]jcLFC26 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I want you to put the word out there that we back up

[–]Other_Beat8859 37 points38 points  (2 children)

Honestly I think a big reason is that the last few seasons he had to play every game for us. Now he can rest for Europa league and the other competitions.

[–]PurpleScientist4312 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Most not dribbled past 💪

[–]BoringPhilosopher1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Van Dijk has been great arguably MOTM today and against Luton.

Obviously understandable why it went to Mo today.

[–]Hostus_Mostus 396 points397 points  (7 children)

Van Dijk is back to being a beast and we have the best keeper in the world. Not that shocking tbh.

[–]Alphabunsquad 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Don’t have a DM though and we give every team a free goal voucher only redeemable in the first 20 minutes

[–]mariusAleks 163 points164 points  (5 children)

We would be so fucked without Allison.

[–]TareXmd 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Pre ACL VVD is back.

[–]AgentTasker 150 points151 points  (5 children)

Because their defence is actually very good, but there's been a narrative pushed that it isn't and people have started to believe it.

[–]PotentPortable 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Tbf we are still prone to concede an early goal just to start the game on hard mode

[–]matcht 47 points48 points  (2 children)

We play very expansive football compared to Arsenal and City (except today), so the games are open and make Liverpool 'seem' a lot less secure defensively.

[–]Keysarr 203 points204 points  (6 children)

Don't mind us just checking the vibes of the 5th spot. Can confirm very enjoyable and nice

[–]Mubar06 85 points86 points  (1 child)

I’m lumping you guys in the title race for the fun of it

[–]kdawg_thetruth 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Whatcha doin Villa?

Nothing. Me? …….. just hanging around

[–]tipytopmain 71 points72 points  (3 children)

I know Unai Emery already gets a lot praise but somehow doesn't feel enough 😅. Villa well and truly in the mix for the top spot.

[–]ITickleMyElbows 67 points68 points  (3 children)

Aston Villa quiet been solid

[–]PotatoMan19399 362 points363 points  (7 children)

Top 10 back on the menu 😎

[–][deleted] 306 points307 points  (13 children)

United about to 1-0 shithouse their way into the top 4

[–]GRl3V 74 points75 points  (2 children)

If Scott McTominay scores in extra time in all their remaining games to take them to top 4 I'm offing myself

[–]Distant_Autumn 35 points36 points  (1 child)

Well you can’t expect us to score multiple goals a game, not unless our defence has planned its regular disaster class.

[–]WinComfortable4131 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shithouse enough and it becomes a shithome

[–]normott 283 points284 points  (14 children)

Amazingly, none of the top 4 teams could beat Chelsea

[–]No-Shoe5382 226 points227 points  (11 children)

Chelsea have quality players that play well against teams that give them space to attack.

They just have no clue how to break down a low block or even a mid block.

[–]vadapaav 201 points202 points  (3 children)

For once I want klopp to show up at Stamford bridge and just park the bus. Confuse the fuck out of Chelsea and let nunez do whatever the fuck he does.

[–]WhetBred14 65 points66 points  (1 child)

Delete this rn or maybe he’ll find out

[–]Aman-Patel 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There's also the element of us getting better over time. We started the season with a new team and new coach. So it might just be a case of it takes time for us to become consistent. Think things are heading in the right direction and we'll have better luck breaking down low blocks once Nkunku is back after the international break.

[–]GameplayerStu 44 points45 points  (0 children)

That's reserved for the 5th place team only.

[–]Rickcampbell98 24 points25 points  (0 children)

😏

[–]_cumblast_ 404 points405 points  (34 children)

Going by this first third of the season, i can't see another top 3 but that one to be honest. Remains to be seen how long the semblance of a title race will last.

Next matchday, City vs. Liverpool. Will tell us a lot.

[–]sinhalfc 362 points363 points  (23 children)

If City are in a genuine title race with us and Arsenal the levels of insufferableness will be ginormous

[–]_cumblast_ 331 points332 points  (6 children)

ArsePool would have this sub getting locked i think

[–]vadapaav 120 points121 points  (5 children)

If nothing else at least we will be free of United fans

[–]Boofiis_ 275 points276 points  (3 children)

It’s arsepool until we play each other

[–]sinhalfc 233 points234 points  (2 children)

Arsepool together strong

[–]Sad_Supermarket_3993 96 points97 points  (1 child)

I hope one of us wins it so we can see both sets of players holding arms and jumping with the trophy with a banner saying “Thank you Kolo Toure”

[–]Alphabunsquad 140 points141 points  (7 children)

I mean if I don’t know if it goes both ways but I will mostly be also rooting for arsenal at the expense of City. I don’t mind being in a title race with arsenal. Good, partially clean fun. Get city out of here though please.

[–]slightlyhigh7 72 points73 points  (0 children)

100% Agreed

[–]biskutgoreng 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lmao spurs have been deleted from the conversation entirely

[–]ShellzBellz16 61 points62 points  (1 child)

I’d love a Liverpool-Arsenal title race. Especially if it ends up following the ‘89 season template

[–]Maud_Ford 40 points41 points  (0 children)

No need to be that mean lad

[–]ramseysleftnut 93 points94 points  (4 children)

Still a long way to go tbh, I think the Christmas table will be more indicative. Our squad right now is stretched thin but we have a somewhat favourable run of fixtures until then with you lot, Villa and maybe Brighton as the hardest ones. If we can keep up with results till our injuries get back the second half of the season will be close.

[–]quantIntraining 21 points22 points  (1 child)

We play both United and Arsenal the week before Christmas too, massive games that will shape the table for the long run.

[–]Kingslayer1526 65 points66 points  (0 children)

C'mon mate. United at Anfield. You're having a laugh. There have been more challenging games like the Luton game we played last week

[–]giunta13 27 points28 points  (2 children)

Can't believe if we beat Luton we'd be top

[–]Wazalootu 37 points38 points  (4 children)

Pretty strong top 10 that

[–]Foolonthemountain 25 points26 points  (3 children)

I think the three bottom teams are the weakest promoted we’ve seen in a while. The gulf between top 10 and lower half teams this season seems bigger than usual

[–]Felicks77 129 points130 points  (4 children)

Im not a Chelsea fan but I thank them sincerely lol. I want a title race and not another City W

[–]Atlanticae 74 points75 points  (3 children)

City usually pull away post Christmas.

[–]BernardBrother666 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Waiting for the obligatory City win streak that goes on for like 1/3 of the season

[–]NotAsimppp 90 points91 points  (10 children)

Liverpool vs City match is going to be crazy

[–]hazzap913 32 points33 points  (1 child)

Paul tierney licking his lips

[–]sankers23 30 points31 points  (5 children)

We have one win there in 16 years

[–]GameplayerStu 64 points65 points  (3 children)

Villa three points off the top in the middle of November. Playing the teams around us in Spurs, City, and Arsenal after the international break. From that we'll see if we have what it takes to stay in the top 4 mix.

[–]nova_uk 32 points33 points  (1 child)

If it weren’t for how shit the three promoted teams are so far then we would be in the bottom three ourselves.

Desperately need to get in a decent striker, midfielder and another RCB at a minimum in January.

[–]ID6WU 146 points147 points  (15 children)

Can’t believe we’re in 6th

[–]whitegoatsupreme 56 points57 points  (2 children)

That GD really surprised me ...

[–]ID6WU 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Every single win we’ve got has been by 1 goal lmao

[–]YokoOkino 76 points77 points  (3 children)

everton we love you, top half is ours 🙏

[–]sockthecasbah 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Dyche is doing such an impressive job.

[–]SeamusandtheBoyz 68 points69 points  (3 children)

Chelsea have won 4, drawn 4, lost 4. Just drew 4-4. On 16 points which is 4 x 4...

Chelsea 4th incoming??

[–]No-Ice1 169 points170 points  (24 children)

Next week any of the Top5 can go first lmao

[–]emre23 212 points213 points  (11 children)

Villa can’t because City play Liverpool, realistically neither can Spurs

[–]No-Ice1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

yeah you're right i forgot about that

[–]Yous1315 54 points55 points  (1 child)

Villa can't, Liverpool and City are playing each other

[–]Giraffable 51 points52 points  (7 children)

Could well be a 3 way title race.

[–]etan1122 118 points119 points  (4 children)

Liverpool. 10 goals conceded with no proper 6 and playing down a man for more than 120 mins

[–]topbananaman 58 points59 points  (0 children)

What Alisson Becker in goal does to a mf

[–]NotAsimppp 62 points63 points  (2 children)

120 sounds less. We have played three matches with 10 men

[–]etan1122 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Been about 3 halves right?

Vvd Vs Newcastle one was very early. Curtis Jones vs Spurs was in the first half too.

Liverpool vs Manchester city is going to be the dark knight rises

[–]synvi 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I didn't realize Villa is that close

[–]CuclGooner 14 points15 points  (1 child)

villa title charge?

[–]TheEgyptianScouser 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Can we thank Chelsea for the entertaining football?

My dream is to see city at 10th. I wanna see how Guardiola reacts to defeat. Guy never been in a position where they were out of the top four and struggling to qualify for new year champions league.

My dream is to see a massive fuck off -114 point deduction on the last day of the season. Watching all the plastic fans leaving in droves and driving straight to the Newcastle superstore.

Crystal Palace are always 11-15th place

[–]InfosecPenguin 130 points131 points  (24 children)

Sad because Liverpool could be top of league right now 😔

[–]A-DTB 78 points79 points  (17 children)

It’s in our own hands in two weeks time.

[–]vadapaav 101 points102 points  (16 children)

We are not winning at City at 1230 ko after international break LMAO

[–]A-DTB 56 points57 points  (6 children)

Ahhh I get you, using reverse psychology on the universe type beat?

[–]sirmeliodasdragonsin 10 points11 points  (2 children)

United having just one win less than arsenal and Liverpool when the past two weeks stats have been out about how this is their worse start to a season ever and ten haag is to be sacked is just mental.

They have been far from pretty but still getting the points.

[–]BasisOk4268 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Man United on same points as last season after 12 games despite looking 500% shitter

[–]TheBiasedSportsLover 37 points38 points  (7 children)

Why are Burnley so bad despite their awesome form last season?

[–]Alpha_Jazz 133 points134 points  (1 child)

The gap between the championship and prem is huge, they didn’t spend their money very well in the summer, and from what I’ve seen they’re quite naive tactically

[–]sandbag-1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yep, so many of their players aren't Prem quality at all imo

[–]reece0n 18 points19 points  (1 child)

It's mostly a different team to be honest.

Combination of too much recruitment and more misses in the market this year haven't helped. Hopefully we should improve as those players settle in and get to know each other, but the worry now is that there's a bit of a gap forming so it now needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Our next 5 games are:

  • West Ham (H)
  • Sheffield United (H)
  • Wolves (A)
  • Brighton (A)
  • Everton (H)

Realistically we need 7+ points out of those 5. Much less and we're probably getting too far gone to claw it back, even if we do have a much better second half of the season.

They think they are still in the Championship, playing as if a PL team can't just run their entire line-up into the ground. They should be more pragmatic in their game play, and it's also possible they never had to defend as hard in the Championship

[–]paddyo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That quid I put on villa for the title looking tasty

[–]BestGirlTrucy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crazy tight at the top
