When did your baby overcome milk intolerance?

I think so too. The two are completely different things

Disclaimer - comment is speculation and only based on my experience and those I know.

I suspect one of the biggest issues with the current educational guidelines is that they don’t give any room for different students having different needs. As a child, I struggled with times table’s because the speed at which we were expected to provide the answer and the lack of information provided about why we should memorize them. My brain doesn’t work that quickly. I understood multiplication just fine, but those “mad minute math” sheets I couldn’t complete in a minute. No way. That said, I excelled in higher level math classes. I went to a college with the unofficial motto “That’s all well and good in practice, but how does it work in theory?” One of the most prestigious colleges in the US. I have a PhD and use complicated statistical modeling every single day in my work. But I use a calculator when doing arithmetic because it’s just much less error prone and faster. Of course I can do it by hand, I’m just not fast at it.

Anyway. I think that it’s true that some kids won’t care about learning why and will struggle with that approach, and other kids like me who lost interest without any explanation of why any of this was important or how it worked. I think I would have had an easier time getting my brain to buckle down and memorize things of I had a better explanation of why I should do so. Not everyone is the same.

I'm Scandinavian and think it's a nice name. Though not too common in the US. Maybe Signy would be better, though it's very similar. Doesn't sound remotely similar to cigarette!

Just a reminder that the "Sharing peer-reviewed research" tag is for sharing a study, not asking for peer reviewed literature to answer a question. That would be the "Research Question - Link To Peer-Reviewed Research Required" tag. As we are currently updating things, the wording of tags and specific tags may change a bit. We will explain all this once everything is finalized :)

Family in law wants us to come to their low-standard cottage asap after birth

It's probably going to feel like too much. Though I definitely don't have as much of a vehemently no reaction as most people. I'm in Finland and these types of cabins are also super common here. The no running water might not be that big of an issue if you have a sauna that you can heat up water in to wash with, for example. Though I guess those aren't as ubiquitous in Norway as in Finland....

I would consider it if all of the following is true:

* Everyone else does everything. Your only responsibilities are to relax and nurse your baby.

* You can wash yourself properly, for example in a sauna

* Test the water. Likely it's fine but it would be good to know for sure so you aren't worrying

* You get along well with your husband's family and are comfortable nursing around them

* You have a safe place for baby to sleep.

* You are feeling well enough to travel/sit in a car. After my first birth this would have been an absolutely not but this time it would have been fine.

Anyway. Don't feel pressured. Say no if you aren't comfortable. And a yes now is conditional upon how you/baby are doing.
