Why Andy Bernard is my least favorite member of the office.

I would first like to say this post is not made to offend anybody, or just to be rude.

In season 3 episode 1, we are introduced to Andy Bernard. My first impression of him was, "He is a little weird but I don't mind him". Then he went to Dunder Mifflin Scranton. Keep in mind that I am a die-hard Dwight fan, and I even named my cat after him. Andy walked into the building and immediately started being super annoying to Dwight, and later on, even stole the keys to Dwight's car just to blackmail him. And it worked. Dwight was fired and went to work at Staples while he "continues his employment search". This is outrageous. Dwight does come back because Michael realizes that Andy is annoying as hell, but it doesn't end there. Andy ends up causing the demise of Dwight and Angela, and although they get back together, that doesn't happen until the second to last episode of the series. Andy also interrupted the proposal that Jim spent his money on at the party. He rented a damn Ferris wheel for that, just for Andy to propose to DWIGHTS WOMAN when they had been dating for 6 months tops. After Andy finds out that Angela is cheating on him with Dwight, this STILL doesn't end up good for Dwight, as his relationship with Angela got destroyed BECAUSE OF ANDY. That is the beef I have with Andy because of Dwight, but that's not it. When Michael left, it was clear that the show was taking a hit. It was clear because they decided to make a "regional director in charge of sales" (BS position) regional manager. I hated Andy through the whole show, but in seasons 8 and 9 his writing was just atrocious. First, he was a terrible office manager, who was trying WAY too hard to try and be funny like Michael, but he just blatantly failed. Then, he ups and leaves completely without informing his boss, and ditches Erin when she thought she was going with him. And he ends up staying for longer than he initially thought! Although I am happy that there was time away from Andy as there was way too much previously, I can still admit that it was atrocious writing. My favorite part about Andy is the fact that he got dumped by Erin and didn't find love throughout the entire show (sorry that's harsh but he pisses me off) and when he was away for anger management, sailing, etc. That is why I detest Andy Bernard.

Favorite Andy Bernard line?

Aside from “I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you actually left them” that’s low hanging fruit (god I hate that I just used that term)

Personally, I’d have to go with “I’d like to point out that I’ve been here less time than everyone else, so maybe you should go a little easier on a noobie” “is there something you really want to have said?” “I don’t want to have said that, but I think it’s important that you know it”

Andy Bernard is way more of a rich a-hole in the superfan episodes

Andy Bernard is already normally shown to be super WASPy upper class, and you can infer his politics based on that, but it's so much more explicit in the deleted scenes. He's from West Hartford (which people from New England know is rich rich), I think he mentions someone he voted for at one point who's a super conservative, and in the shareholder meeting it's revealed that his uncle is on the board of Dunder-Mifflin and his employment is completely based on nepotism which is why he's never fired.

Andy Bernard is privileged but naive and well-meaning in the show that aired, whereas in the superfan cut there are quite a few scenes where he's more of an asshole about it. Anyone else notice this?

Re-watched The Offfice, I can't think of a character so thoroughly ruined by a show as Andy Bernard.

He was always lovable and you rooted for him. Despite his anger issues, his obsession with Cornell, his inferiority complex, etc you were still always in his corner.

In the final season he became mean, petty, vindictive and unlikable. Were the producers mad at the guy for leaving in the middle of the season to shoot another Hangover movie?
