JG: Lots of conversation between you two.

FM: It don't matter what was said. Just trash talking. i'm used to trash talking at the Mayweather boxing club. Andre berto has heart, tremendous chin, he wouldnt lay down and it was a good fight

JG: Hurt hand?

FM: it don't really matter if i hurt my left or right hand. my career is over. it's official. berto was a tough competitor, i knew he would be. experience played a major role tonight. he's a very athletic boxer. what can i say i was the better man tonight.

JG: why leave

FM: you gotta know when to hang it up. i think its about time for me to hang it up. i'm close to 40. been in the sport 19 years, champion 18 years, broke all records. nothing left to prove.

JG: whats going to happen in march april or may, maybe i want to come back

FM: i have an immaculate guy i met in my career that helped me make over 700 million in al haymon. i was able to make great investments. i'm financialy stable and i had a great career.

JG: what does it mean to be tied

FM: it means it's a part of boxing. records are meant to be broken. hopefully we find the next mayweather to break my records. i want to spend my time with my family children, education. the young fighters under Mayweather promotions banner.

JG: how do you feel leaving the sport

FM: um, I'm leaving the sport with all my faculties. still sharp still smart. throughout my career you heard i was negative. you never hear floyd feeds the homeless or gives to less fortunate.

JG: have you lost your love for the sport

FM: I've accomplished everything. nothing else to accomplish. money don't make me i make money.

JG: tbe, how do you feel you leave rank yourself

FM: i'll let the fans rank me. i wanna say one thing, all the fans that came out or tuned in i thank you guys.

JG: where do you feel you fit

FM: i don't want to rank my self. your'e the best at commentating. i'm the best at boxing.

AB: as you can see i was in shape man but he is really difficult to hold onto he's really slippery. experience played a big part i was confident and used a lot of speed but he's real crafty. he was using little things just to get my off my rhythm.

AB: a guy like me have a lot of pride, he has a lot of pride so i was telling him hey i'm here, come on i'm here to fight. of course he had to say his little thing as well, but tonight i feel we put on a great performance, we pushed him tot he limit but we fell short.

Fun competitive first round. I have to give it to Porter.

10-9 Porter

Round 2

I think a lot of people will be surprised at how alive Berto looked for the first 1.5 rounds. Then Porter started to make it a dog fight. Tons of action, and then Porter put down Berto at the bell with a looping right hand.

20-17 Porter

Round 3

Porter hurt Berto a few times this round. These been a lot of head contact, and now there's blood coming from the top of Porter's head.

30-26 Porter

Round 4

Nice work by Porter this round. Berto looked to smother, but that played into Porter's hands and he was able to do some mauling work. That said, Berto landed his best punches of the fight this round. Good action.

One point deducted from Berto for head contact. IMO it's hard to argue that it's totally his fault.

39-35 Porter

Round 5

Both men are visibly bleeding and the doctor paused the round at one point to make sure Berto could see. Another solid round for Porter.

The doctors are concerned about both and the round gets off to a late start.

Another good action round. Berto looked unsteady on his legs in the final minute. Porter's pressure might be too much.

Berto landed some uppercuts this round, but Porter is winning the war. Porter was a bit more reserved this round. It looks like he wants to set up cleaner shots but he isn't necessarily succeeding; he lands his offense when things get messy.

Round 8

Porter landed some bombs in the first minute. He's going for the stoppage. Devastating body shots. If Berto survives the round, that damage is going to stay with him. Solid work for the rest of the round for Porter. I'm giving him a 10-8.

It looks like the doctor wants to stop it, but the action continues. I've never seen a commission this hands-on.

Porter picks up where he left off. Berto is bouncing off the ropes and it's called a KD. The end is nigh. It's over. The crowd is on their feet.

Round 1

Berto pumping his jab. He's pressuring early. Ortiz circles toward Berto's left. Ortiz has his normal bounce going. Ortiz jabs to the body. Another one. Atmosphere tense here. Berto needs to counter that body jab with a straight right. He's gotta get Ortiz away from thinking he can do what he wants. Crowd booing at the lack of action. They've been spoiled all day by wars and quick knockouts. Both fighters respect each other a lot. You can see it in their hesitancy. A nice right by Berto counters the body jab. They each miss their shots and heads come together. There's blood, looks like it's from Berto. Ortiz is busted open on the hairline. He's gushing blood. They tap gloves. Back to boxing. Berto with the right down the middle. Blood is streaming down the middle of Ortiz's face. Correction, no blood coming from Berto.

Berto eats a left hand from Ortiz. Ortiz eats a right. Ortiz with a big left hand. Berto open for the straight shots now. The body work Ortiz did in the first is paying off. He's got a huge glob of grease on his head. Berto lands the right to the chin. They miss big shots, Ortiz starting to wing that left hand in. Ortiz scores with the right hook. Ortiz body jab. Ortiz using the distance wisely. He's staying out of range of Bertos' short but powerful power shots. A huge straight left down the middle and down goes Berto. He's quickly up. The bell sounds and Berto goes down big.

Berto coming out with a look that says I'm here to hurt you back now. He leads it off with a right that misses. Ortiz moving a lot, both with his feet and his head. It's giving Berto trouble early. Another left for Ortiz. Berto feinting and moving his hands, but not throwing punches. Ortiz with a left, Berto left. Ortiz with the big left. Ortiz with his tight guard avoids Berto's combination. Berto's defense is really leaky here. Berto with a nice left hook.

IA huge uppercut from Berto puts Ortiz on the canvas and he's up at 6. They come back. Ortiz is badly hurt. Perot going for the finish. Ortiz hands down, A left. Another left. Ortiz manages to catch Berto. A big right and left. Another right and down goes Ortiz again. He's up and Reiss is talking to him. He doesn't look like he wants anymore. Weiss waves this off and it's over. I guess Ortiz didn't feel like he deserved it.
