SIB Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey?

I've not played much survival games before but I'm a huge fan of open world exploration, and I don't mind aimlessly going around doing things as long as it's not exactly step by step building-block repetitive (for example, hunting in RDR2 is technically repetitive but I love it, because animals are random spawns and you can get right into it, whereas I found Don't Starve tough to enjoy because you always have to build up step by step and if you start over you gotta repeat the same grind again). Does Ancestors have a fixed grind before it gets to the interesting and challenging part, or can you choose different paths/do different things each time you try again?
