I binged it all today. I don't hesitate to call it a brilliant satire taking on the true crime documentary genre. It was sophomoric, silly, and witty. One of my favorite shows from this year.
Here's the trailer for anyone interested.
Has anyone watched it? What did you think? Who do you think did it?
First of all, if you haven't watched the whole thing you should come back later.
Being that said, things like this contribute to the meta of the script so try to behave.
Let's try and answer one simple question: Who the f drew the dicks?
Also side-theories are welcome. Everything contributes to the main mystery.
I don't even want to spoil the premise for anyone who isn't aware of it, but it started off as just kind of clever, and then became so gripping after a couple episodes I couldn't stop. I very rarely binge shows, but it was just a perfect execution of its premise and I couldn't stop.
Highly recommended. Deserves all the emmys.

Five years ago we created the true crime doc-inspired Netflix series, AMERICAN VANDAL. We wanted to make a show with the same level of seriousness and hard hitting investigative journalism as our favorite true crime documentaries, but for a really stupid crime (spray-painted graffiti penises).
Now we’re taking a similar approach to the sports doc genre with our new show, PLAYERS on Paramount+. The show follows aging 27-year-old League of Legends star, Creamcheese, on his quest for his first LCS championship and rising 17-year-old star, Organizm, who will challenge Creamcheese’s patience as he becomes the new face of the franchise.
Check out the trailer and watch the series on Paramount+. The first seven episodes are out now!

Hey reddit! We created - let’s talk Turd Burgler!
Proof:
American Vandal is one of the best made shows on Netflix. I just finished watching it, and I cannot believe how good this is.
If you haven't heard of it, it is an 8 episode (for now) fictional comedy/mystery show filmed documentary-style. The show is about finding out who spray painted 27 dicks on the teachers' cars.
The show could come across as juvenile/ easy humor at first, since the majority of the plot revolves around penises. But by the end, I actually cared about characters I didn't think I would care about. It presented a message that was really well done, and it was extremely engaging.
Even though this show is fictional, I became addicted to this show just as much as I did for Making a Murderer. At times, I forgot it wasn't real, because of how caught up I was in the story.
Please give this show a chance. I haven't heard one negative about it from people who have watched it.
It’s a hilarious and poignant skewering of true crime that gets uniquely meta and explores the impact of social media on modern high school, and it’s about drawing dicks and pooping. I don’t think I know a single person who’s seen it. Please do yourselves a favor and watch if you haven’t yet, it’s on Netflix.

Curious what people thought about season 2?
I actually did a review on it here:
Do you all agree with the review? Was the rating too high or too low?

I just rewatched it today with my brother and I forgot how much I loved it.
It’s obviously hilarious not just because of the subject matter but because of the attention to detail, in both how it legit comes off like a pair of high schoolers made it in iMovie AND in how well it satirizes true crime Docs. The performances are all on point (I seriously think Jimmy Tatro could be one of the best comedic actors we have today if he was to be given more opportunities) and they make the jokes and script work repeatedly…
But what’s so amazing about it in my opinion is how biting it is of high school culture and social media’s influence on supposedly unbiased Docs like the one Peter is making. How people could have a perception of someone from a very surface level and how that perception people impress on someone could mold a person into that be same perception despite how much they aren’t actually like it. It has such a gut punch of an ending cause everything they set up jokingly comes back to bite both the characters and the audience for misjudging the entire concept and getting into it despite how silly it is.
Seriously, give it another watch if you have the time. It’s so worth it!!
Obviously this is just my opinion, but I think the show was written so well that it took the "out of reality" context, and placed it right into your lap as if it were happening right in front of you. Just enough of edgy satire to please all of the audience, and enough wit to seem completely vivid.
The story was so far fetched from being true, but I actually felt like it was something that happened.
Every character stayed in the middle of their role. They never left. And they continued to push it to the edge, just enough to make it actually seem believable.
I laughed every time I heard Dylan say a sentence, but I also felt like his character was 100% genuine. Either the acting was really good, or the writing was perfect. It may have been both.
The show also shines light on how many rabbit holes can exist in a small world
Great show!
