I don't know if they realize that NLCS is an anagram for the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation, but I'm drinking anyways. The Phillies slap, but can the Snakes slither their way into a win? 5:07 Eastern Time.

Today's Astros loss is their second ever loss in franchise history at Minute Maid Park during the American League Division Series

It should be noted that the Astros only joined the American League in 2013, but they have played in 8 American League Division Series since that time. In the 18 years from the creation of the Division Series (1995) to the Astros last season in the NL (2012), they only played in 6 National League Division Series. So they actually have more franchise division series as an American League team than a National League team. They went 1-4 in the AstroDome and 3-3 at Minute Maid Park in NLDS games. Following today they are 13-2 in ALDS games at Minute Maid Park.

Also, the Athletics beat the Astros in 2020 ALDS Game 3 (in which the Astros were the home team). However due to the pandemic postseason, that game was played at Dodger Stadium without fans. They then won Game 4 as the home team at Dodger Stadium. That is why I qualified this as at Minute Maid Park instead of at home. Still, 14-3 in ALDS games while being the home team as a franchise is very impressive.

Their first lose in franchise history in the ALDS at Minute Maid Park was on October 12th 2015. Almost 8 years ago. It was ALDS Game 4 against the Royals. Here is the box score for that game: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/HOU/HOU201510120.shtml

The Astros were 6 outs away from eliminating the Royals and moving on to the ALCS. They had a 4 run lead entering the top of the 8th and gave up 7 unanswered runs to the Royals to lose 9 to 6. The Astros then lost Game 5 in Kansas City.

ALDS Preview: Houston Astros (2) @ Texas Rangers (2)

The Rangers will try to avoid getting swept at home by the Awaystros Astros. Verlander vs Montgomery may be a pitcher's duel, and hopefully Marcus "Baby Got Glove" Semien can avoid another out via baseball accessory.

NLDS Preview: Philadelphia Phillies (2) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (1)

The Phillies pool party remains on hold (though somehow Brandon Marsh is still wet) as the Diamondbacks took the last game. Can Joe Mantiply continue to keep the Phillies home runs on ice? Or did the walk-off win awake the Bryce Harper?

Game 5 of the ALDS will determine the best orange juice

With the Astros winning two in Minute Maid and the Rays winning two in Tropicana it seems like each team prefers their hometown juice(d baseballs). The question will be whether or not Tampa can handle the doubled sugar in Minute Maid. This could explain why the home run rate in Houston is significantly higher than in the Trop.

No matter what happens in Game 5, the juice will be alive in the MLB
