The American Athletic Conference has now been in existence for 5 years. During that time period, the AAC has gone from being known as "Conference USA 2.0" to being a conference filled with teams that can hang around and sometimes beat the "big boys". In honor of this anniversary, here's a brief timeline of important events that have happened in the history of the AAC.
July 1,2013: The AAC is formed. It consists of 10 teams: UCF, UConn, Cincinnati, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, Rutgers, SMU, USF, Temple. is the first commercial for the conference.
September 7, 2013: The first AAC conference game is played between Temple and Houston.
January 1, 2014:
July 1, 2014: Louisville leaves for the ACC and Rutgers leaves for the Big 10. The conference adds Tulane, Tulsa and East Carolina.
July 1, 2015: Navy joins the conference for football only. The AAC splits teams into two divisions: East and West. They also introduce a conference Championship game.
December 3, 2015: Houston wins 24-13
December 31, 2015:
July 1, 2016: Due to the success in Football and other sports, the conference changes it's hashtag from #AmericanRising to #AmericanPower
July 1, 2017: Wichita State is added to the Conference as a non-football playing member
January 1, 2018: , completing it's undefeated season.
What will happen this year? Who knows, but it sure will be fun to watch. So Happy 5th "Birthday" AAC! I expect good things to happen in the next 5 years!

What is going on in the AAC? Absolutely chaos. There were already upsets in the opening rounds but now, top two seeds are GONE in huge quarter finals.
9-seed East Carolina take out 1-seed Tulsa 75-71
10-seed Rice defeats 2-seed North Texas 61-59
Also have 4th-seed UTSA end 5th-seed South Florida's post season streak 58-56. Last game of the night was the best too, TRIPLE OT needed for 3-Temple to get over 14-Tulane 76-72
Kudos to the league for such strong parity. Fun to follow, hopefully all you fans are ok!

Not sure if this has been brought up, but it just dawned on me. They beat Boise St. 35-13, Alabama 23-17, and Memphis 24-3. Yes, Memphis and TCU shared their respective conference championships, but it will still be very impressive.
Also, they beat UL-Lafayette 56-15, who represented the Sun Belt champion in their bowl since Georgia Southern is not eligible this year.

Home to the glorious American Football Conference, known for its famed brand of American Football. The AFC competes with the often inferior National Football Conference, defeating them in the Super Bowl, an ultimate stage to display football abilities and American power. Long live the AFC, the true, and best FC.
