Hi All,
I was wondering if there is some kind of public crimes I should be careful of when visiting Algiers, Tipaza, such as violent theft, robbery, car theft, scams, that are going on nowadays?

This is the subreddit for parents / caregivers in New Orleans and surrounding areas. We are here to chat about living here with kids, things to do as a family and other questions revolving around being a parent / caregiver in New Orleans. Let's keep this relatively politics-free and focused on family and our kids.
I just got back from New Orleans (planning a Spring/Summer move). I tried my best to walk around several neighborhoods to see where we might want to move. I really liked Algiers (I suppose I was really just in Algiers point? The part closer to the ferry). I liked that it was a bit quieter. It was also the only neighborhood where people stopped and chatted a bit, so that made me think it’s a friendly area generally?
I also liked the Carrollton area near the maple street shops. (I hope I’m describing these areas correctly!) It also seemed quieter, but it was mid morning on a weekday so I don’t know how quiet it really is.
I looked online at rentals and it seems Algiers point is a bit more affordable than uptown. So I’m looking for opinions from locals. What’s Algiers/Algiers point like? What’s the commute to Uptown like if you’re working a 9-5? I’ve heard people say bridge traffic is bad, but where I’m from traffic/commutes are awful so I think it’s relative. 20-30 mins is a great commute IMO. 45 is fine. An hour sucks. Any insight appreciated!

As a European Algerian that is discovering Algiers, I was just curious..personnally, I only wear abayas and a long cardigan on top. However, it's getting warmer and I find it sad that I have to keep wearing several layers of clothing (according to my mother). It'd be nice to have several points of view 😊.

Hi all, since the summer of 2023, I have been visiting Algeria quite often..which I had never done before since I was not close with my mother who is Algerian from Algiers. I love to spend time here but my mother is getting older and doesn't like to explore and move around like I do. So I figured, the only way for me to do more things is to make friends here...a big issue is that I don't speak darija at all and barely understand.
Where do you think I could make friends who speak either English or French ? preferably women between 24-30. I do want to learn darija and bought myself a book to learn.
Thank you in advance

Hey y’all. I just submitted an application for an apartment located in Algiers Point. I visit there all the time but how is life there? I work in Belle Chasse so it is very convenient when it comes to commute. Happy Friday y’all!
