Ales Hemsky about his life after retirement: “I only saw emptiness everywhere. I earned good money, had a family but I still thought about hanging myself”

Zack Stortini just told the story it how he was up in the NHL for a week or so when the team played the Credit Card game and his picked. Bill was more than he had in his bank account. Ales Hemsky quietly tells the distraught rookie not to worry. Picks up the bill and told no one.

So everyone knows we need a RW. He showed in Ottawa that with the right line mates he can be an offensive threat. I think 5.5 mil is pretty steep. But it would finally address our lack of scoring right wingers.

TIL Ales Hemsky would've gotten a penalty shot anyways when Stefan missed the open net

But you can see at 18 seconds, Hemsky gets hooked/slashed and the ref's hand goes up immediately. Given it's a clear-cut breakaway, Hemsky would've been awarded a penalty shot had he missed. This isn't really significant, but it's amazing to think that Hemsky really had 2 chances to score the tying goal after Stefan's miss.
