AJ McCarron

I didn't even know that we somehow got AJ McCarron back as one of our backup quarterbacks. Is he really worse than browning? I remmeber he did pretty decent during the wildcard game (the game that i desperately want to forget) in 2015.

The Bengals put him in for the last quarter of their final game today, which tells me they do have faith in his capabilities. Burrow will no doubt be back next year, though. And Browning said in the postgame conference that he considers himself a Top 32 quarterback in the NFL (although I don’t really think that’s true).

If Browning gets a starting job elsewhere next season, I imagine AJ will stay with the Bengals as backup QB. But what are the realistic chances of that happening?

I guess my question is: with how things look right now, how likely is it that we get AJ back this season? And at what point will he be notified by the Bengals regarding his role, if any, in 2024 for them?

Does anyone have a link to a good quality AJ McCarron jersey? I saw several really good looking ones at the home opener. I want to order one from DHGate but I don’t want one with gathered sleeves.

tl;dr - he has some issues with how some of the merger was handled, and is making his decision on coming back within a 'couple days'

So, he had a lot to say about the USFLPA especially. He doesn't much like it and says most poeple he has talked to don't really like it. Basically, XFL players are overall taking a little bit of a paycut and though he doesn't say this directly, it's worth pointing out that XFL starting QBs last year had contracts that were above and beyond what other players made. I think it was rumored AJ was around $200k But all players are being paid the same.

He says the old negotiated USFLPA contract will expire after this season and they'll have to negotiate another. It sounds like he thinks the league should move on to another players rep entirely (he doesn't htinkt he Steelworker's Union really understand the needs of football players very well).

All this said, I personally think he's coming back. He said 'we' and 'us' when talking about the league and Battlehawks and basically sounded like he was a part of it, even while voicing complaints about it. Personally I think he wanted his opinion out there for a couple days to get certain people to hear it before he re-signs.

He played pro-style at Alabama, and has shown that he can play in the NFL. With an average QB class in the draft, could a team be willing to take the risk?

AJ McCarron has officially been assigned to the St. Louis Battlehawks for the 2023 XFL season. I'm happy to see him play in my hometown.
